I remember when Todd Field was tapped to do Blood Meridian and I wondered what the hell he had done up to that point to warrant such a task. I mean, In the Bedroom is good and all, but nothing about that or anything else he'd done led me to believe he'd be capable of it.
So when he dropped out and picked up The Creed of Violence as a potential alternative, I was pleased. Sounded very much the sort of brutal, cutthroat story I love, but it would also allow Field to stretch his muscles without over-straining them in order to live up to a vaunted classic like Blood Meridian. I don't really want to see DiCaprio or Bale in it, though. I always imagined Woody Harrelson as Rawbone (and considering his own family history with contract killers, it might tap into something really dark and unique with him), and maybe Tye Sheridan as John? Or shit, why not make it a Joe reunion and get Cage.

I have to wonder what he spends his time doing. Between his two Academy darlings (both impeccably strong efforts IMO and ITB borders on greatness), most people probably know him as a director (well I do anyways) but he's only directed two films. Does he do work behind the scenes of other projects? Because the man's been invisible since 2006 apart from announced projects and rumors of projects... I'm ready for another Field film. Hell I was ready 10 years ago. I hope this finally goes through. EDIT: also, god I really want another Bennett Miller film in my life.
