I just can't believe that he died "Oscarless" 🙁

'74: Lead Actor - Murder on the Orient Express (....... this is a weird one in his filmography. He's not anywhere close to Pacino's level, but still there's my my fondness for any interpretation of the character. Ustinov was better though.)
'83: Lead Actor - The Dresser (WIN)
'84: Lead Actor - Under the Volcano (WIN. More like a WINWINWIN)
'90: Supporting Actor - Miller's Crossing (Probably a WIN. Need to check who else there was.)
'94: Lead Actor - The Browning Version (Ridiculously strong year. I feel like he could be my win in a year like 1996, but in 1994..... he just might be slightly outside. One of Hanks, Harrelson, Oldman, Hopkins, and him will have to miss out....Sad)
'00: Supporting Actor - Erin Brockovich (Another great year. Good enough to be my win, but there's also Dafoe, Del Toro, Downey Jr., but definitely no hesitation about naming him my winner)
a GOAT. He's pretty much always my win whenever he's even nominated. There's a lot of stuff I haven't seen (mostly his earlier stuff), but he got better as he got older and more mercurial and skilled. In the 60s and 70s, he was a charming bloke.... but he really turned the page in 1983.

1963: Lead Actor, Tom Jones 1974: Lead Actor, Murder On the Orient Express 2000: Supporting Actor, Erin Brockovich
No wins, though 74 would be awfully close. When I think of Poirot, I think of Albert Finney. He was a wonderful actor, and it seems a down to earth guy, who could have cared less about Hollywood (something that makes me love him more).

I was just a kid at the time of his first 4 nominations but I really hoped he would win for Erin Brokovich. Shame. He truly deserved to win an Oscar.

Indeed. Finney was exactly the Poirot as you find him between Agatha Christie's pages.
