kind of an ignorant thing to say for someone that was never harassed by him. But I'm so glad she had a good experience with him. That's great for her. what the fuck, Binoche

Funny because I usually can't get enough of Juliette Binoche.
...but in all seriousness this was a really stupid and insensitive thing for her to say and will probably be a deserved taint in her reputation.

Ask her to say that to the women he raped or attempted to.

I thought that he had confided to her that he had "had enough" and decided to jump out of a high rise.
Well, Twitter can't have everything go their way...

Considering the volume of accusations against him and the size of his waistline, Harvey Weinstein can clearly never have enough.

Weinstein campaigned his arse off to get Binoche and The English Patient Oscar nominations.I guess she feels she owes him her subsequent career, thus her misguided defence of him.

Oh honey, I think she's just trying to come off as an easy French girl... she's of a certain age now and probably looking for another Oscar nomination... I can just imagine her holding this press conference in a black slip with mussed hair, chain smoking Gauloises while draped over a half finished bottle of cotes du rhone to an accordionist accompaniment... which reminds me, where is Maria Helena? Is she sleeping on the job again?...
Non, rien de rien, non, je ne regrette rien Ni le bien qu'on m'a fait, ni le mal Tout ça m'est bien égal Non, rien de rien, non, je ne regrette rien C'est payé, balayé, oublié, je me fous du passé...

How are the social issues in Europe? Are they that different from America (North and South)? I'm asking because it's very common to read european folks saying things that seem just so... out of touch with the reality that I know and share with so many people. Some things aren't really wrong, but it's so weird.
I remember Julie Delpy and Charlotte Rampling going on and on about how it's way more difficult being a woman than being black (like it's a competition) in the very same season as #OscarSoWhite broke out. And Catharine Deneuve/Alain Delon who pretty much aged into reactionary old people. And there's also Isabelle Huppert who never say anything insensitive nor offensive, but who comes across as someone who doesn't care at all about those things. And now Juliette Binoche who felt the need to praise Weinstein as a producer in the year of 2019.
Really, how are things in Europe and why can't these european people put themselves in other people's shoes?

It's mostly the French who seem to have alarmingly little sympathy for Weinstein's victims or the #metoo cause generally. In Britain there has been a huge amount of outrage/anger about what has gone on.

I like freethinkers even when are crazy as hell.
Most of European actors are equally hypocritalthan Hollywood stars like Emma Watson. But at least there are more freethinkers like Delon, Bardot, Deneuve, Huppert, Depardieu, Samantha Morton or Charlotte Rampling. Crazy as hell, usually wrong, but aren't part of a flock.
And most are part of it, they are leftist who won money from subventions, ONG and UN.-
In America Alec Baldwin, Woody Allen, Diane Keaton, Martin Sheen and on the other side Jon Voight and James Woods, that is f...ng God on earth!!!

I don't buy this at all. It's true that Miramax productions were the only times she put a foot on Hollywood, but I don't think Andre Techine, Michael Haneke, Diane Kurys and every single french production she did the next 10 years approach her because she won an oscar, she even won Berlin for that performance, and now she's the one who go with directos and says "I want to work with you". She said she has fond memories of working on Chocolat/English Patient but that's all. That's her experience, her perspective.

That's her experience, her perspective.Yeah but she's not just sharing her experience impartially, she's projecting her experience onto others and saying people should lay off Weinstein because she herself individually had a professional working relationship with him, whilst completely ignoring the fact that many had horrifying experiences with him. If she was just sharing impartially that's fine. But the minute she advocates for something without taking into account anyone else's experiences she should probably shut the fuck up. More than 80 women have accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct. If Binoche wasn't one of those women that's great, but it's also absolutely not relevant to how he should be treated or how anyone else should be expected to feel about him.

Is she advocating though ? For how she said it, I don't think so, she's not leaning towards any side, she just said let justice do their job. We're reaching a moment where asking to wait and see what justice says is advocating for someone. Of course, what we have to do is flay.
