The mistake would have been way more obvious had the Best Actress winner not been in the Best Picture front-runner, and Beatty and Dunaway wouldn't have gotten much blame if they read Florence Foster Jenkins instead. It would have been hilarious if Meryl Streep won Best Actress this year. "And the Best Picture award goes to... Meryl Streep!" "We love her so much, that she should win Best Picture awards too, not just Best Actress" - the Academy.
Speaking of Meryl Streep, I'm glad that Kimmel's joke about her being overrated only included her best roles. I don't think it would be quite as funny if he included the roles that are more popularly considered to be overrated. He walked the line well on that one.

It is impressive how it was like a perfect storm of coincidences (maybe not the right word) that allowed that magic to take place, and if any one thing had been different the whole thing never would've happened.

I'm still pissed they announced Best Actress after Best Actor. We were denied a timeline where they would've announced Manchester by the Sea as Best Picture and Jimmy Kimmel would've had to strip Matt Damon of an Oscar.
