Lost in Translation is an all time favorite of mine, I like Somewhere, The Virgin Suicides and A Very Murray Christmas but everything else has been terrible.

Love Marie Antoinette and Lost in Translation. Somewhere and The Virgin Suicides are great. The Bling Ring is meh.

I'm in the vast minority, but I really dislike Lost in Translation.
I've only seen The Bling Ring out of the others, and it was alright I guess. Despite my mixed-to-negative impressions of her as a writer/director, I'm very interested in The Beguiled this year.

As a director and writer, I love her. As an actress though...

I'm in the vast minority, but I really dislike Lost in Translation. Explain. Really flat movie that's about loneliness, but doesn't really explore it very well in my opinion. Murray is great, Johansson is solid, and to be fair Coppola's direction is quite inspired at times, but her script is another matter. I hate to be that guy, but the depiction of pretty much every Japanese character was just uncomfortable and utterly and over-the-top. Maybe it's a film I need to watch again. I liked what it was going for, but I think films like Her and Toni Erdmann told similar stories much more effectively. I did like the ending, though.

Hasn't lived up to her first film, but Lost in Translation is one of the best of the decade/millennium. I'm always interested in seeing what she does next.
I do like Somewhere and The Bling Ring quite a bit.

I have a thing for the dreamy, hazy, atmospheric vibe that she captures in her best films. I would even venture to say that she might be to film what my queen Hope Sandoval is to music for me.

About as good a director as she is an actress.

I like Lost in Translation, and parts of The Virgin Suicide, but the rest of her work I could do without.

She's talented, but a little too repetitive- there's only so much stories about bored young rich white girls one can take.
Plus, at times she seems as aloof as the characters in her films- I mean, she makes a movie that portrays Marie Antoinette as a poor, innocent girl unfairly victimized, then takes it to Cannes of all places and is genuinely shocked to see the movie being booed like there's no tomorrow.

For me she is still a one-hit-wonder.

Lost In Translation might be the single most uninteresting film I have ever seen. The only other film of hers I've seen was The Bling Ring, which I found average at best. I'm really not looking forward to watching anything else from her, as all her other film don't look like something that would interest me either.

I think she's a really unique filmmaker. Lost in Translation is one of my favorite movies, and she did a great job with The Virgin Suicides and Somewhere. The Bling Ring is pretty 'meh', with the exception of Emma Watson's underrated performance. I still have to watch Marie Antoinette sometime in the near future. And I'm pretty stoked to see how she does with The Beguiled this year.
Sofia's acting, however, is pretty awful. But I'm glad she realized writing and direction is better for her.
