Had the X-Men films come out when he was the right age, don't you think Mel Gibson would have been even more perfect as Wolverine than Hugh Jackman. I heard some guys on a podcast about Mel just suggest this and I can't say I disagree. That Lethal Weapon intensity...damn he would have been a perfect fit.
Since everyone is a superhero nowadays at some point, had the genre been so popular at any time in the past, who do you think would've been a great fit for certain parts?

Michael Keaton should've played The Joker instead of Nicholson.

Robert Mitchum as Kingpin. Kurt Russell as Iron Man. Tom Skerrit as Cyclops. Clint Eastwood as The Punisher (though this one is kinda cheating considering he was Dirty Harry). Elliot Gould as The Riddler. Young Mickey Rourke as Dwight (from Sin City... older Rourke was perfect as Marv, but I think the younger version would be great as Dwight).

I could definitely picture Mad Mel as the Wolverine . Certainly would have been more height appropriate (as Wolverine is supposed to be pretty short).

Gary Oldman in the 80's would have been a fantastic Joker.
Denzel in 90's would be pretty good as Luke Cage.
