Yeah, still gonna pass on this one. I know better than to trust twitter critics.

I'm still mainly watching it for Beavan's costumes and Crombie's sets, but it being actually good would be a pleasant surprise indeed

Still have low/no expectations, but perhaps I've been too harsh because Maleficent and most of these reboots suck so hard.

My expectations are very very low due to the uninspiring live actions of Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, Dumbo and Aladdin . Emma Stone does look quite good here though and the trailer makes it feel like they are putting a new / fresh/ creative twist on this so we shall see I guess. Fingers crossed that its good

First reviews are in. Seems like Stone is the best part (unsurprisingly)

Now it's respectively 74 and 61. The early overhyped Twitter reactions from the SJW bubble made it look like it was one of the best blockbusters in years, now the actual reviews are revealing it to be a mediocre mess, LOOOOL! Not surprised.

Disney getting as low as 75%/62? Well, I think that it's safe to write this one off.

Not surprised. Hardly a mess. Most of the negative reviews say they don't know who the movie is for. I don't really consider that valid criticism.

He's been sharpening his knives for it ever since he heard Emma Stone was attached. And anyone who uses the term "SJW" isn't really worth listening to in the first place.

Everyone always wets themselves over these things when they first come out and then forgets about it within a year. I've been burned too many times by Disney's reboots so I'm not spending money on this. Cinderella and Christopher Robin were the only decent ones which is a terrible batting average with how many they've made.

Out of curiosity, have you seen Pete's Dragon? It's the only one I like. No, didn't even know it was a remake. I'm unfamiliar with the original. It's one of those Mary Poppins/Bedknobs and Broomsticks movies in which they mixed cartoon animation with live action. It was also a musical, I think. The remake dumped the songs and probably had a lot of freedom to do something fresh because nobody remembers the original. If you like any of David Lowery's other movies - especially The Old Man and the Gun, which most resembles Pete's Dragon in tone (and also stars Robert Redford) - I suggest giving it a shot.

Now it’s being roasted on Twitter. I can’t believe they actually went there, but I should have known Disney would. At least the Emmas will escape unscathed; although after just reading it cost $200 million to make I think this will feel like a bomb or at least a disappointment because I don’t think there’s that much of a market for this even with kids.

Having seen it I have no idea how it could cost $200M? Wikipedia only refers to Matt Zoller's review but I doubt he's a credible source. Production design, costumes and soundtrack are all cool but it’s not a CGi-heavy movie, there are no big set pieces or whatever to justify it. That said, it might still be a disappointment. Surprisingly, I actually kind of liked it. Unlike many on this board, I'm not a big Stone fan but have to admit that she was fantastic here but I can see why it won't appeal to most. For adults, the story might lack any depth or originality, and for kids, it might be little too... cruel.

I did see later that people were disputing the $200 million dollar budget, but it’s also all over with many believing it. I guess that it can do well then. It even got an A Cinemascore and had a good Thursday night. I thought it looked fun and may have even went to see it as something to do this long weekend, but that scene killed my excitement even if the rest of the movie is fun. I know it was out of context, but not every villain needs a backstory as to why they’re evil.

I'm sure it will underperform regardless. Plus, it's going against A Quiet Place.

This was full of cliches and had no right to be 2hrs 10mins long and that ending resolution was kinda bad but Emma Stone, who I feel has become the most versatile actress of her generation (that I could think of) saves it and makes it an enjoyable ride. Emma Thompson is really fun too and her chemistry with Cruella is some of the best things in the movie. It could have worked more for me had it been a simple story set in fashion world rather than about Cruella, the disney villain origin story but thank god for Stone. The costumes were to die for though and the soundtrack was really cool. One of those movies where the charisma of the lead stars save the show. Emily Jean Stone supremacy everyone! 🙌🏻

What a two-faced opportunist. So Johansson is on her own now.
Plus, a sequel no one asked or cares about of a movie no one asked or cared about.
