#36 Best of Album - 'Sticky Fingers' by The Rolling Stones'

Sister Morphine is one of the most frightening and eerie songs ever written - only Reed's "Heroin" is in its league as a written piece. In the same way he gave a voice to the Devil, Jagger here is similarly perfect in how he pushes this song through its harrowing twists and turns like a great actor in character really not a mere singer............. and there are very few Rock vocal performances ever that are its equal. The bands performance (with Ry Cooder and Jack Nitzsche) is overwhelming.

It's also subject to one of the great Rock and Roll BS stories - often repeated by people wanting to seem in the know rather than people with actual ears - that partial co-writer Marianne Faithfull's earlier recording is "better" - it's fine, but it's not, in any way "better".

Not one.

Not a huge fan of the Stones, but "Wild Horses" is probably among my favorite songs of all-time.
