Bleh. As far as tortured soul artists are concerned, I'd rather not watch one whose signature song is "they try to make me go to rehab but I say no no no".

Hopefully it goes the same way the Joplin one has done.

Suggested casting - Kaya Scodelario. That would be perfect. Scodelario needs to breakout like her other Skins co-stars did. But I have a feeling they'll offer Lady Gaga the part.

I have a feeling they'll offer Lady Gaga the part. That you would think up something so vile and see fit to type it out so as to inflict it on the rest of the world is so filthy and obscene that you should be whipped and banned for it, and I will personally see to it that that happens.

I think getting a worldwide known singer to play another worldwide known singer would be the worst, most bizarre case of stuntcasting, but Amy's dad of all people suggested Gaga to play her IIRC

I hope this never gets released. The last thing we need is another I, Tonya. 1. I, TONYA was AWESOME!! 2. WTF do Tonya Harding and Amy Winehouse have in common?!?! 1. Lol, no. But that's your opinion, and I'll respect it. 2. Well, 1) both ruined their careers after marrying dickheads. In case of Harding, it's a dickhead who knew other dickheads, and in case of Winehouse it's a brainless drug addict who introduced her to heavy stuff and feeded her self-destructive side; 2) Both were stalked by the media and saw their lives exposed in the tabloids for the worst reasons; 3) Both Harding and Winehouse have at least one parent whose influence on them hasn't been the best, and in case of Mitch Winehouse, I wouldn't be surprised if he ended up being portrayed as a greedy parent who wanted to get rich and famous at the cost of his daughter. I know it will be inevitable to approach the theme of substance abuse, but there's more to Winehouse than that. She's the greatest singer of this century so far, and if they want to do this right, they better have that in mind and do justice to her talent.

Whole thing stills sounds like a clown show to me, but Eddie Marsan sounds like the PERFECT Mitch Winehouse

pacinoyes says no, no, no MAR will just bitch that Lana Del Rey deserves it so much more even though she's alive because she can curse convincingly and steals from the Pop Culture past sooooooooooooooooo well that we can think Norman Fucking Rockwell is one of the best albums of the last 10 years......though maybe you haven't heard enough albums? Just kidding I like it too .......it's her fans that can be a bit much - see also Fiona Apple

Knowing how upset that Kapadia documentary made her clown father and knowing he (her estate) is behind this, leaching off of her still over a decade after her death, just makes the whole idea of this repulsive. I can already see the scene of daddy on his knees at the end with her in his arms screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO to the heavens. Triumph of the Mitch.

Digging up a corpse who famously hated the attention that was given to her messy personal life to make a very obvious comment about the troubles of fame and parasitic/co-dependent relationship between celebrities and the media (ironic). Her dad - who continues to leech off her in death - hated the documentary and is involved in this, so that tells you everything you need to know. Who is this even made for?

The documentary was enough for me. In fact, seeing everything play out in real time was enough for me. Not ready for a film, especially one endorsed by her clown father.

I liked this actress on s1 of Industry (terrrrrrrible show in the end), but she's not giving Amy at all. The fact that it's directed by a child molestor and went through the approvals of the man who enabled Amy's downfall doesn't help much.

I'll tell you what, there's no way that performance can come off as comically fake in the movie as it does in this trailer, so the only way is up. It's like if someone hired the king of England to play John Lydon.
