Dude was versatile as fuck. Amazing performances in lead roles like Big Love and smaller ones like in True Lies or Edge of Tomorrow

This is so shocking. I would have never expected this today.
While he may not have been thought of as the greatest actor because unfortunately he never got any major recognition for his work, he was usually just fun to watch and just made what he did look easy. Thinking back over his career and reading tributes that people have written around the Internet, I totally forgot just how many things that he had been in, and how many films that I loved him in. He also was able to easily straddle the line between leading and supporting actor which not every actor can do.
Plus, as a movie fan, it was fun for awhile until Bill Pullman sort of stopped working there for awhile, to see which one would finally pull ahead of the other Bill, so they would stop being confused with one another.
RIP. Condolences to his friends and family.

I've always liked his performances. He's always fun to watch in those entertainment movies (which is a sign of a great actor, imo), but he could be versatile in other roles as well. And from I hear, he was one of the genuine nicest guys in Hollywood.

Rotten news! So young, he was so well loved by a broad spectrum of movie fans. I'm shocked.

He was in a Terminator, Alien, and Predator film, and he died in all three. RIP! He actually was one of the several actors that always die on wherever they were in. Pretty dark

"I've been reeling from this for the past half hour, trying to wrap my mind and heart around it. Bill leaves such a void. He and I were close friends for 36 years, since we met on the set of a Roger Corman ultra-low budget movie. He came in to work on set, and I slapped a paint brush in his hand and pointed to a wall, saying "Paint that!" We quickly recognized the creative spark in each other and became fast friends. What followed was 36 years of making films together, helping develop each others' projects, going on scuba diving trips together, watching each others kids growing up, even diving the Titanic wreck together in Russian subs. It was a friendship of laughter, adventure, love of cinema, and mutual respect. Bill wrote beautiful heartfelt and thoughtful letters, an anachronism in this age of digital shorthand. He took good care of his relationships with people, always caring and present for others. He was a good man, a great actor, and a creative dynamo. I hope that amid the gaudy din of Oscar night, people will take a moment to remember this wonderful man, not just for all the hours of joy he brought to us with his vivid screen presence, but for the great human that he was. The world is a lesser place for his passing, and I will profoundly miss him."
-- James Cameron.
