I like that they managed to avoid the big spoiler of the story. It looks okay. I’m a fan of the original movie so I am at least curious to see this version. I also wonder if they’ll reuse the Ramones’ “Pet Sematary” song or the Plain White T’s version or just another cover.

never read King's novel or saw the original so I know nothing about this story.
But this looks fun! Nice to see John Lithgow, always.

The novel is King's darkest by far, and one I heartily recommend listening to the audiobook for (Michael C. Hall does it). Perfect Halloween story to listen to. The '89 film is corny at times, but Fred Gwynne is legitimately Oscar-worthy and there are a few terrifying scenes in it.

Hope the movie will do justice to that fantastic novel . One of King's best work

I have a lot of complicated feelings on King. He can write a great story, but I don’t find him scary. He can write scary people, but his supernatural stories never triggered that reaction in me. And I know that his stories have greater depth than that, but when he’s primarily know as a horror writer, and the whole point is to be scared reading his books, I just don’t think he succeeds. I typically find his scares are better accentuated by what other artists and filmmakers bring out of his stories.
As for Pet Sematary, I’m just not feeling it yet. I’m intrigued by the Hereditary vibes I’m getting from it, but this story takes such a hard left turn, and I have no idea how they’re gonna balance that.

Pet Sematary is one of the few King books with a good ending.

Good enough trailer for me! I've actually never seen the original PS film and haven't read the book either so it looks like I'm in for a treat here. I'll definitely give this a chance cause I love Jason Clarke & John Lithgow .

Fred Gwynne is legitimately Oscar-worthy and there are a few terrifying scenes in it. When I see the trailer without him, it seems kinda soulless. He was the heart of that cheesy film, and yes was Oscar-worthy JUST for the New England accent alone.

The South Park parody of "Pet Sematary" is genius, if you haven't seen it, especially the Jud Crandall character.

I've been waiting for this movie for over a decade. I was so disappointed by the incompetent original -- it had some terrifying scenes, a bit of atmosphere, a good Gwynne, but the two leads were godawful, so was the cinematography and directing. I read the book shortly thereafter and it's easily my favorite King, extremely iconic and memorable, makes it even more sad that that the original filmed sucked so much given that it had a great screenplay. This looks so much better and it's a well done trailer too.

Anyone else find it interesting how Jason Clarke is in a lot of movies but he can't get to the next level?

Anyone else find it interesting how Jason Clarke is in a lot of movies but he can't get to the next level? I have noticed this. Zero Dark Thirty might have been a turning point in his career if that terrific performance hadn't been so passed over (in hindisight it sorta makes sense though, because he's quite restrained and the role is linked to the film's most controversial aspects). Oh well. I still have faith he'll get a breakout. He's a very talented actor and quite prolific. Something will turn up I'm sure.

He's real talented and he's given lead roles but I'm not sure why he can't pull a Chris Pratt.

New trailer. Thoughts?
The polar opposite of the first trailer, that was atmospheric, creepy, mysterious, gave you enough information about the plot, story and scares without spoiling anything. This one has massive spoilers to the point of feeling like it shows the entire movie but completely different from how you might expect. I was both very shocked and disappointed that the changed the identity of the family member that comes back. I think this take is way more generic.

oh my god they just went and showed everything, didn't they? I read the book recently and wasn't in love with it so I'm down for a fresher scarier perspective on King's premise, I just wish they hadn't shown me everything in the goddamn trailer. As for the identity of the child, that's apples and oranges to me. Both trailers so far are promising something that I hope the film delivers: nasty, pulpy, spooky fun. That's all I want from this film, and to be honest that's all I want from most King stories or their adaptations, since with this particular story the "existential dread" of the concept didn't grasp me the way it did King himself. I'm not looking for a serious dramatic film about grief here, just a fun horror film, and there's plenty of room in this story to creatively expand on King's vision. This trailer isn't nearly as good as the first and reveals waaaaaay too much (even for viewers not familiar with the book, this trailer leaves very little to the imagination), but my interest is still piqued and I'll definitely be watching it unless it gets panned.

This really looks no better or worse than the original film, and I know that because after watching this trailer I feel like I have seen the whole new film film.
I just don't get why this is done so often in trailers. Hold shit back folks!!!! This is why I tend to not watch them...lessened learned yet again.
I will almost certainly go and see this, but my anticipation levels for it have gone from 7 or 8 down to 1 or 2.

I don’t know if they did a great job making a cat up to look like the embodiment of evil, or if they just plopped down an everyday regular cat and filmed it.
Needless to say, it’s the most realistic cat I’ve ever seen on film.
