I know zilch about French politics, and Tob is going to get on me for this, but I think Le Pen is going to win. I won't say whom I prefer as I am far too ignorant regarding their platforms and history. I'm so going after you with this once she's lost I would have actually been less after you if you'd said you prefer Le Pen because I think both Macron and Le Pen are an incredibly mixed bag (e.g. bad choices - however Le Pen's proposal of the referendum is super scary, much more so to a European) and Le Pen is arguably more to the (authoritarian) left, while Macron seems more like a (right-wing) libertarian for my money but he never speaks about policy so it's hard to say how he will be as president, I guess he gets the 25 % in polls for his looks (and maybe 5 % of those for pretending to be different). As for an answer to the thread: I'm about equally far away from both as a left libertarian. Here's a roundup on FN's policies btw, they're probably the best of the new-right european parties (in that they're arguably not even a right-wing party), at least way better than the AFD or Wilders but still a few of their proposals are downright scary: www.france24.com/en/20140528-france-national-front-policy-euI think if Macron would be more concrete I would presumably like less of his proposals but also despise less of them but if he gets elected conflict in France might grow and then Le Pen really wins next time...

Le Pigpen thinks "France is Brigitte Bardot." That pretty much says it all.

Le Pen (from a brief scan of her policies) Aren't you a libertarian? yes, and I didn't agree with Le Pen on much, but more than I did Macron

After actually doing some decent research on this, I must say Macron is probably better than Le Pen. The only issue Le Pen has me on is leaving the EU, but Macron seems pretty sensible on economics and most social issues. Le Pen is way too authoritarian. Fillon is ideal, tho.

Fillon seems better than both of them. Fillon is a crook and a thief ! He and his pal Nicolas Sarkozy sold France to Saudi Arabia and Qatar!

I have little use for Macron, but La Pen is basically Trump if he wasn't a bumbling idiot, which is a frightening idea. Not to mention if the EU/NATO crumble you would probably see war engulf the European continent.

Still have to say she's preferable to Macron but she's definitely not an ideal choice.

I'm so split on this election. Le Pen's victory is important from a cultural perspective and Frexit would be great. She's far too authoritarian tho. I just can't see myself supporting her. Macron seems decent for economics, but still far from ideal. He's much more freedom-oriented, but he's still got some socialist-ish views. I don't know about conservatives supporting Macron. He's really hard to pinpoint. Maybe if I were French it'd be more clear, but this whole election is extremely confusing to me.
