I don't think it's feasible. They'd have to reshoot like half the movie, and knowing Spielberg, there probably are some highly intricate dancing/visual sequences that would be impossible to rejigger with CGI and maintain the quality of the filmmaking. Provided it all checks out, they just have to release a statement like "We condemn this behavior, and will be donating to ________; while we understand the anger and frustration resulting from these revelations, hundreds of artists worked hard on this film, and to honor their work, we will be releasing the movie." I don't know why this isn't the approach more often. When yo just shelve stuff you're punishing a lot more people that who you want to punish. If this is true his career is over regardless of how the movie does.

Disney, please, just drop all this shit on your dumb streaming service for an obscenely priced rental. I don't wanna return to movie theaters in a year for them to just be filled with Disney garbage.

West Side Story is in post. Usually he has a couple of things lined up. Indy 5 got sent to Mangold. Is he doing Edgardo Mortara? Something else?

WTF? Why in the fuck is he wasting his time on that stupid shit?? He's too good for them. Oh well, he's probably gonna make a shit load of money directing it. So good for him I guess As for Spielberg's next project, on his IMDB page that Edgardo Mortara film is in pre production and probably his next directing gig. But things can obviously change so who knows. I would like it to be his next for sure (sounds very interesting )

O don't know about Edgardo Mortara... It's been in pre-production for so long!
I hope he makes it though, with Rylance starring. Sounds very interesting.

Why do you think the answer lies on this forum of ours? I think only Spielberg himself knows the answer. I'd love it if he finally got to make "Edgardo Mortara" but that'd require finding a suitable kid actor which they couldn't do a few years ago when the movie was in production. So unless a miracle happens, I'm not sure about that one. Otherwise nothing is known about his plans.

This is going to be a controversial opinion but I think he should retire directing and just stick with producing. I mean I love the man, but he's already 74 years old and he hasn't had many all time great movies these days. Plus, he's like the highest grossing and probably richest filmmaker in the industry.

So your barometer of whether someone should continue being a filmmaker is only if they are constantly making 'all time great movies'??

It's not just that but you also bolded the part where I mentioned how old he is. It's just the man is old and is already high profitable director. I mean retirement isn't a bad thing and he can still be producing. You're right, it shouldn't be how much great movies he's had these days but I don't feel like he's done a masterpiece since Schindler's List, although some might disagree and say Saving Private Ryan or A.I.

The man directed two of his very best films within the last decade, so I can't agree with this.

I hope he just does straight dramas about subject matter he's passionate about. Maybe another WWII film or something about Jews. He's done enough blockbusters and obviously has nothing to prove commercially.

I also want him since years to make the "Edgardo Mortara" story, which has been on his radar soo long. But yeah, it looks like this never will happen. Only thing that gives me hope is that other projects like Lincoln also took quite a time to finally get made.
I really hope he has many more films in it. While I disliked The BFG and don't care for Westside Story he otherwise has shown the past decade he is still at the top of the game.

You r right, I'm too weird right now, I'm stressed and post very silly things.- I post things, without thinking twice.- I admire (not love) Spielberg as a director, I respect him as a producer, but That ideal family man, eyes rolling.- His last great film was Lincoln.- And his next proyect is ruining a musical, and then an italian anticatholic drama (I read that 2 minutes ago).-

And West Side Story while having great techs, is seriously anemic as a story. Spielberg is probably going to own the original movie.

I have no idea about Spielberg proyect, and why he wants to make a movie of the 850s Italy. Yep, religions should be respect, and being anticatholic, and more than anticatholic, anticlerical is an offense. Being anticlerical is worse than being anticatholic. Being anticatholic is just someone hates catholics. But being anticlerical is that someone one day hate catholics, the other day protestant, the other jews, muslim etc.- Poor Pope Pius IX, the unluckiest pope ever, he could make a movie about the Borgias, the medicis popes etc. But a movie about a poor guy, who almost lost everything.-
