I love La La Land, think Moulin Rogue! is an extremely inconsistent mixed bag.

La La Land by a Miracle Mile.
Haaaated Moulin Rouge, with a passion. I felt bad for Ewan MacGregor. He actually gave a sweet performance; too bad it was in such an overblown turd.

Absolutely Moulin Rouge!
Revolutionary, inspiring the entire musical comeback that we've seen over the last 15 years and SO different from anything which came before it. Way more inspired than La La Land, so unique, its frenetic editing, gorgeous cinematography, beautiful aesthetic and incredible soundtrack combining to create one of the most energising, uplifting cinematic experiences of all time. And Kidman is worlds better than Stone, just as McGregor is a mile better than Gosling.
Incredible film. Not many are better.

La La Land doesn't have Nicole Kidman...

I like them both, but Moulin Rouge and all of its cutcutcutcut baloney is for me basically everything that's wrong with the modern movie musical. Probably my favourite thing about La La Land was how it completely undid all that, and favoured the longer take of days gone by.

Moulin Rouge is so much more innovative.
