Ben Kingsley and Richard Burton would be in my top 15 - Burton is the heir to Olivier for a stretch and he is an odder "type" for a British actor in that his manliness is noticeable - his virility is either expressed poetically in his acting (in his case mostly his voice) or used to express something else where he suppresses it. He is Finney before Finney.......and Kingsley is somewhat like DDL before DDL - especially early on - Gandhi-Bugsy. Jeremy Irons would also rank highly for me, especially in his 80s work.

Very hard to do 15 film actors without drifting into favorites .......just tried to do "best" here and keep it at 15..........there's no way I can leave off Grant (too singular), Scofield (too specific)........ under that "best" criteria ....... 1 Olivier (the de facto 1 - starting point like Brando)
2 Finney 3 DDL 4 Hopkins
No order:
O'Toole Burton Irons Kingsley Oldman Guinness Caine Sellers Mason Cary Grant Paul Scofield
