As the other two polls seem to go over pretty well, and had a great number of voters, I think I'll move off of the onscreen talent, to the men and women (what as world we live in), who tell everyone what to do. It's time to decide the 50 Greatest Directors of All Time.
Voting Rules
• Send me a list by PM, not in the thread. • It should contain your Top 25 Directors of all time, numbered from 1 – 25. If your lists are not numbered, I will count them as 1 – 25 in the order sent.• Your #1 will earn 25, #2 earns 24....and #25 will earn 1 point. You all know the drill. • Once you've voted, you can of course edit your vote by re-sending your ballot to me by PM. • I don't think we should have limits on who can be voted for. Personally I'll be voting for a few folks who are likely more famous for music videos and a few films, than vice versa. Also director duos (The Coens, Dayton & Faris, Friedberg & Seltzer etc) can of course be voted for.
If I haven't covered something in the basics above, just ask . Voting officially closes on Friday September 07th at 11.59pm EST, so just under 4 weeks for you to vote. Please use this thread for FYCs and discussions / arguments.

FYC - some guys to fight for ............
DePalma who is as misunderstood on this board in a whole different way as he is in the real world.
The Taviani Brothers - Who always get overshadowed by their Italian peers - yet at their best we're as great and as important in their own era as those great ones were in their eras.
Claude Chabrol - The French Hitchcock, though much more than just that and important too - I'd argue that he is the main link between 50s Hitch and 76-83 DePalma......

It might be a little soon, it was only a little over a year ago when it was last done.

Not that I think any of these guys will make it into the Top 50 (even though they really should), but For Your Consideration:
Wojciech Has Guy Maddin Sion Sono Edward Yang Raul Ruiz
And...Jim Jarmusch, but I bet he'll make the cut.

It feels weird to be stanning for such an obvious pick but with the world being the way it is:
Woody Allen - no one has had his career - no one - 50 years of writing and directing a film per year, totally outside the Hollywood system. In the 80s in particular he was golden.......

Cool, I'm actually going to do this one. For actors I could come up with top fives but after that there were too many people and I couldn't decide. Should be able to do 25 directors.

Eventually decided to stop tweaking the order and constantly changing who was in 24th/25th spots and just sent it in.
FYC's for less popular choices-
Elia Kazan (not exactly less popular but you never seem to see him on lists like this because of the HUAC stuff)
Sergei Eisenstein
Fred Zinnemann
Vincente Minnelli
Paul Greengrass
Charlie Chaplin (feels weird to give him a FYC him but a lot of people will ignore silents; ditto for Eisenstein above)
