Probably my favorite year thus far this decade, though my top two were already two of my favorites from the decade before starting the year, so that helps. Sabrina was a lovely and most welcome addition to the top three after seeing it and The Caine Mutiny on the big screen last night. As you can see I was not much of a fan of the latter, though. Strong acting, but a really weak script and meandering direction.
All in all, though, it was a pretty strong year through and through. A lot of nice surprises and not too many disappointments (though after the 11th spot, all those films were a bit duller than I expected them to be). Acting was especially strong this year, but surprisingly not too many knock-out, "wow" performances aside from my supporting winners. I feel the one that might grow on me the most, despite having many many flaws, is Samurai I. Can't wait to watch the sequels, but this felt like if Star Wars were a Samurai film and I loved nearly every second of it (so thanks for the recommendation stephen ).

As for 1955, holy hell I have way too many movies to pick from so the better you can narrow down for me what to watch, the better. Though I may have to extend my limit to 20 just for this year because I don't see how I could skip some of them (and that's not counting the ones I've already seen and my Hitchcock/Kubrick ones). Looks like one hell of a year, though.
