Very much so. It's a very fine film. Davis was absolutely chilling especially in that scene with Herbert Marshall. Teresa Wright was charming, and Patrica Collenge was very poignant.

Patricia should've been nominated instead of boring teresa wright. One could call Teresa Wright many things, but I don't think boring is one of them.
And I have a question. As you probably realize, I'm new here, and I'd like to know what's with all the not-so-polite language under many posters' names. Do you know?
Think of it as a signature. If you go into your profile and type something into your "latest status" it shows up your avatar, like my "Time is so old" bit. Edit: Oh, you're talking about the "Bad Ass" thing. That just has to do with how many posts you've made. The top tier used to "virgin" but it wasn't funny anymore after more than one person broke the record needed to acquire it (I think 1,000 posts), and the admins switched it up to "Bad Ass" and "Whoop-de-fuckin-doo" I guess. And welcome! I didn't realize you were new, but I wasn't paying attention anyway. And yeah, Teresa Wright is glorious in this movie. Her portrayal of goodness in the very cynical, bleak world of TLF could have been far too twee, but she doesn't overdo it. She's every bit as important as Bette Davis, honestly. P.S. My favorite classic film right here, and I'm thrilled to see everyone enjoying it so much.

Thanks so much for the great post, Martin, and for the welcome. And for explaining about the whatever you call it over on the name site. Personally, I find "Whoop-de-fuckin-doo" quite offensive and disappointing for a board that I think otherwise has a great deal going for it. Surely they can think of something more enlightening than that. Or just leave it off a name. I hope they don't put anything like that under my name, because I'd have to find a home elsewhere. And so far I'm really liking it here. If you speak to an admin about it, or hold a poll, or whatever, someone'll probably change it. I don't care for it either, but never cared enough to bother.

Are you a new member? welcome aboard! we are all nice people here! love your born free avatar! Thanks, ray. Except for the awful "level" titles it seems like a very nice place. Oh, and my avatar is actually from one of Carroll Ballard's lesser known films, Duma (2005), about a boy and a cheetah. Wow, I haven't seen Duma in ages. I remember really liking it (the movie got an 8/10 rating from me on IMDb it seems), but can't recall too much about it.
