I watched the teaser and liked it, but this movie will definitely flop at the box office, and I didn't understand why Warner took so long to start releasing the photos, the official teaser should have been out since May ... It's a shame because even if the film is good, some will question Villeneuve's credibility and it's not good to have two flops in a row ... I hope his next film is something less ambitious, I would like to see him continue working on thrillers and science fiction, but without remakes or franchises, something with a smaller budget, more like Arrival, Gravity, Gone Girl, Nightcrawler, etc. that is accessible enough to do well at the box office, but with good material (screenplay).

I agree, despite Film Twitter hype or the female teenagers who apparently love Chalamet, this movie will flop.

Saw the teaser in front of Tenet. I'll start with the one negative: the cinematography does not look anywhere near as godly as in Blade Runner 2049. The lighting, the color palette, it's all good but not at all on the level of Deakins' work. It reminds me of a lesser version of the aesthetic in The Last Jedi, with cold desaturated sets contrasted with harsh reds. That's my nitpick. Other than that one gripe, this teaser is excellent. Framing it around Paul's test is ingenious. The entire cast looks stellar, especially Timothee Chalamet who looks absolutely BADASS as Paul Atreides. That final shot of him walking among the Fremen is so sick and everything I want out of my messiah. But the real highlight here, the wildcard which I've thought about at length since reading the book this summer, is Hans Zimmer's EPIC new score. I really wanted an excellent new theme to wash away the memories of the abysmal Toto score from Lynch's film, and oh boy did Zimmer deliver big time. Wasn't sure what to expect, but definitely DIDN'T expect a retro-sounding "Flash Gordon"-esque sound, and I am SO DOWN with it! Feels like a cross between the first Blade Runner and Thor: Ragnarok, with just the right amount of that cheesy 80s Rain Man era Zimmer for good measure. That one ten second piece of the theme will be playing on repeat inside my head until I can hear more on September 9. So hyped!!! Also, yeah this movie is going to flop. It's a guarantee. Which means we won't get the conclusion of the book. That is incredibly disappointing, but I guess I should just be happy that this first chapter exists and is bound to be wonderful.

You have no idea how much I am resisting watching the shitty cam-rip circulating of the teaser. One more week . . .

You have no idea how much I am resisting watching the shitty cam-rip circulating of the teaser. One more week . . . I'm sure it'll be worth the wait. I watched it today after seeing the movie last night and the cam version wobbles a bit, goes out of focus once or twice, and the audio doesn't at all do justice to Zimmer's theme. It'll be fine for a lot of people but if you want your first glimpse of the world to be special I think Sept. 9 will pay off (I would say go see Tenet but I won't for a number of reasons). I was nervous my showing wouldn't have the trailer. It was the last one and as soon as the WB logo came up it was obvious Denis had crafted this with love. Disappointed it won't compare to BR2049 visually but I mean how many movies can contend with Deakins in GOAT mode? Maybe the full trailer will have some more money shots, or maybe I just need to get used to the more naturalistic approach.

I thought that looked pretty great. Some gorgeous shots in there. Obviously action heavy (needs to appeal to the masses). Only thing that threw me a bit off was the look of the defensive shield. Might take some time getting use to.

While we obviously wish that Deakins had been available to shoot this, I think Greig Fraser's work looks very good. Really curious to see how the Baron looks.
