Didn't care about this project, even with all the previous names announced; but Bardem?? Say no more.

It hurts my soul that Johann Johannsson is unable to do the score for this. Listening to Mandy (his finest work and one of the great swan songs of a composer), you could almost hear the DNA of Arrakis in it. Same here man. Fantastic composer and was forming a truly special collaboration with Denis.

I was getting used to the idea of Mark Strong as Gurney . . . but hey, Brolin ain't too shabby.

I like Villeneuve but all the overhyping is pretty fucking annoying.

I like Villeneuve but all the overhyping is pretty fucking annoying. It’s not overhyping when a movie has this amount of potential and talent surrounding it.

Villeneuve regular David Dastmalchian has been cast as Piter de Vries, which I absolutely figured would happen. Good casting, that.

Rest of the directors better hurry up before everyone gets cast in Dune.

I'm sure Zimmer will do a good job, but . . . come on, this has Mica Levi written all over it. Henderson's an intriguing get. He'd be an inspired choice for Shaddam Corrino IV, but he's probably someone like Kynes.

Between this, Nolan's next, The Lion King remake, Top Gun and The Wonder Woman sequels Zimmer has the chance to deliver a wide variety of scores.

Reeeeeeeally hoping Zimmer actually brings his A-game for this one. While there were definitely more inspired options out there, I do think that Zimmer has the most potential to turn in something really special here. But these days he just phones it in for anyone who's not Nolan, and while his (co-composed) work on 2049 got the job done, it's still one of the few areas where that film was really lacking for me. So, I'm hoping that Villeneuve gets the most out of him -- maybe some original, awe-inspiring themes, something that puts the MCU and other contemporary blockbusters totally to shame.

I’m really getting tired of Zims. Outside of his Blade Runner score, his last decade has been so underwhelming (and his BR style isn’t gonna fit with Dune). I don’t trust him anymore to make a great “action/adventure” score. Hell, I don’t trust him to make a great remix of his finest achievement this July.

Zimmer is the best possible choice for this. Definitely the composer of the last decade for me. His works for Inception and Interstellar stand out, but it's often overlooked that he also is able to support films with more discreet scores that maybe are not as memorable or "special" as a work of music itsself, but just fit the mood of the film perfectly fine. I think Blade Runner 2049 was a perfect example of this as well as 12 Years a Slave.
