WB might push this to 2024 now. What a disaster.

WB might push this to 2024 now. What a disaster. Gee, Warners. It’s almost like in order to finish a movie, you have to PAY the people making your movies.

Ah hell. Still, WB made their bed. Now they can die in it.

If Dune2 is out of the race then there's nothing stopping Oppenheimer in techs and it will become a bigger threat to winning both picture and director.

If Dune2 is out of the race then there's nothing stopping Oppenheimer in techs and it will become a bigger threat to winning both picture and director. I don’t really think this helps Oppenheimer more than any other movie. Tech wins are not really a barometer of Best Picture success anymore. Since they changed to preferential it’s more about writing and acting (director doesn’t hurt). Last 5 BP winners have won a combined 1 tech award. Luckily for Oppenheimer it’s a strong contender in these places but I don’t think this changes that.

Honestly, it was inevitable. My understanding is that ADR still needed to be done on some scenes and Denis is a perfectionist. Not to mention that Dune really needs its actors putting in the work on the circuit to promote it, plus it was boxed in by franchise releases on either side.
An earlier release means it might be a tougher sell for Oscars (although that didn't stop Everything Everywhere and likely won't stop Barbenheimer) but it also doesn't have as much competition at the theaters. I think this might be a good thing in the end, although it worries me that this means the strike isn't nearing an end.
