It's time to settle all arguments. Who is the best, or at least our favourite? Will Meryl Streep steamroll the competition again? Is Paul Newman still a king among men? Also, the one that really matters, a true battle for the ages...Al Pacino vs Denzel Washington.
Based on the almost unanimous feedback so far in the other thread, we will be assembling two lists, one of our 25 Greatest Actors of All Time and another of our 25 Greatest Actresses of All Time. Voting Rules
• Send me two separate lists to me by PM, not in the thread. • One list of your Top 25 Actors of all time, numbered from 1 – 25. • One list of your Top 25 Actresses of all time, numbered from 1 – 25.• If your lists are not numbered, I will count them as 1 – 25 in the order sent.• Your #1 will earn 25, #2 earns 24....and #25 will earn 1 point. You all know the drill, this ain't our first time at the rodeo fellas...FYC Faye Dunaway . • Once you've voted, you can of course edit your vote by re-sending your ballot/s to me by PM. • If you want to vote in only the female poll or the male poll, that's a shame, but I have no objections.
If I haven't covered something in the basics above, just ask .
Voting officially closes on Friday, August 03rd at 11.59pm EST, so 4 whole weeks for you to vote. I think that is plenty of time, but I’m fine to be flexible if needs be. Please use this thread for FYCs and discussions / arguments.

Remember to vote for Jean-Pierre Léaud and Malcolm McDowell, everyone. Idk about that. I love him in Clockwork Orange and If but is he particularly remarkable anywhere else?

Remember to vote for Jean-Pierre Léaud and Malcolm McDowell, everyone. I don't know where it'll be number wise, but he'll be on my list. I'm trying to get an Actress list down from 50 and the Actor one down from over 40.

^ Good call representing the Bergman gang. They're all top notch, Thulin is especially underappreciated.

I'm gonna mention John Cazale because the guy really deserves the recognition. If he hadn't died so young, I think he'd be considered a master.

My list was based on 4 things : actors I found the best (where possible)/historically important either for films or in themselves/uniqueness/and lastly personal preference - in that last one, it tilted strongly American.
At a certain point it stops being about just the best - there's a level of actors outside the absolute best to me that are just too close to call or they are too similar or of equal importance or that I have no strong preference for either.......but Cazale to me is a no brainer for the list.
He was great sure, every film he's in is historically important too, and HE'S historically important too - that's what gets him over. He's unique and special, as an actor "type" he basically defined playing weak on screen - he set the model for many later great actors and performances like PSH and Sean Penn in some of his less overtly masculine stuff (Falcon and The Snowman for one).
Love him and I could watch him all day......

This can include TV-known actors, right? Not just those known mainly for film?

This can include TV-known actors, right? Not just those known mainly for film? Absolutely. Edie Falco was high up mine for the ladies and David Jason on the men's side. Vote for any actors you like.
