I am really not feeling Oscar love for this outside of the production elements.

Too long of a trailer. Probably will not be as good as the '94 version. I could be wrong. You're probably right but I' m still willing to give it a shot 😁

I just decided this will be the movie for which Meryl will get her annual nomination. And she will lose to Dern (for Marriage Story probably)... I wouldn’t bank on that.

Now, these little women. How little are they? I mean, are they like... scary little?

This looks...ok.Didn't blow me away tbh.Saoirse will probably get her almost annual nomination but I'm not sure about BP or director anymore and that score was just plain bad. I thought it looked nice, and I'm sure I'll enjoy it. However, it didn't blow me away either. I think I'm suffering from the problem that I thought I would have when the film was announced, and that's just it's hard for me to be really excited about another adaptation of it when the 1994 version is right there, and seeing all the same classic scenes that basically every version has. I mean I'm sure it will be an entertaining movie, but I'm still not sure about it being a huge awards player based on that. Who knows though maybe most have forgotten the other versions? Or this will be so great that it will be the definitive version? Good trailer but feels a bit modern. Saiorse is getting nominated alright but can she win? Yes, the meta thing with who does she marry and other things like that felt pretty modern to me too. I guess it's something that sets it apart from other versions, but I'm not sure if I like it. Will have to see the whole movie first before I can say. So far I didn't though for some reason. I guess because I think the original story can stand on its own without that, but again we'll see. I am really not feeling Oscar love for this outside of the production elements. I think Ronan can still get in depending on how the rest of the year turns out in Best Actress. I think it's plausible that Fair and Balanced, Harriet, Judy, and Lucy in the Sky all falter, and that Amazon's strange strategy with The Aeronauts and The Report backfires. Not sure about other categories though now except Best Adapted Screenplay.

This is the eight version of the story, and looking at the trailer aside from the modern cinematography, it doesn't look like it's differentiated itself from the previous films enough. Honestly my ideal version of a new Little Women film, would have been more of a modern updating of the story, sure a lot has changed in over a hundred years, but I think you could take the same sort of story, and apply it the ideas of class and gender in the 21st century.

I found it a very unwisely made trailer since every showcased moment is literally a rehash of 1994's best stuff ...
I have a feeling Greta Gerwig didn't secretly approve of it ...
OR, if this is the best they've got, it would be underwhelming to say the least :/

This looks like our BP, folx. Everything else might have to wait til next year.
And it sounds like Emma Watson has been an American for her entire life! Not a hint of British in her two lines.

That can't be the actual Desplat score right?
And I'm being nitpicky here, but they should've lightened Watson's hair to match the sisters. She sticks out like a sore thumb considering initial pick for Meg was Emma Stone who looks like she could be related to the other girls, especially Ronan.

On what? The nimination or Dern winning? Streep nominated. Her screen time in this is beyond minuscule and nothing she does is nomination worthy. She’s probably more likely to get in for The Laundromat (and I’m predicting her there for Supporting). If anyone gets nominated from this cast in this category, it’s Pugh, but even that isn’t a guarantee.

Ronan seems to be on a roll with her Oscar-bait-fails. Surely this trailer wasn’t Gerwig-approved.

The editing of the trailer makes it tiring to watch, but I did like the footage: the visuals, the color-grading, the writing and the acting. It's not very different from the other two Sony trailer (Beautiful Day and OUATIH)... I don't know, it seems a tad too rushed to consider a tailor-made movie with very good word of mouth from people who have seen it a failure.
Anyways, I'll be watching this. For Gerwig, who has shown since Frances Ha what a singular voice she has, for the cast (especially Ronan, Pugh and Dern) and because the story of Little Women is too lovely.

This honestly looks better than I was expecting. Maybe because I haven’t seen any of the older versions and am not familiar with the novel or this story at all?? Aside from the super on-the-nose Saoirse monologue, all the footage here looks great.
Considering this board has always been unfairly down on Lady Bird, I guess the response shouldn’t be too surprising...

I don't know, only by this trailer, seems to me Ronan could stand a chance for an acting nod.

Looks more or less like I expected. I liked the 1949 as well as the 1994 version without finding either great. So how can this film improve upon them with seeming basically the same? Lots of it has to do with direction and acting. There are lot of scenes that have much potential and not all were executed really well in the two adaptations I've seen. I really have no doubts that this cast will deliver, art direction looks fine as well. Let's see how Greta Gerwig paces the film and where her focus is on.
I'm optimistically this will be at least fine. Still haven't read the novel by the way. Also never see it in any book store.
