If it's half as good as Olive Kitteridge, I'm in!

It was just as good as Olive Kitteridge. Very intelligent and also moving, with three great performances and a direction that's very precise and minutious. The attention it gives to the investigation procedural married with its heart and humanity makes it a Mindhunter less interest in fetichizing violence than in giving dignity to its victims. A must-see.

I'm currently on episode 3 and I'm loving it! Collette and Wever are incredible as usual and Kaitlyn Dever is a true revelation.

Collette and Weaver = one of the best two tag team chemistry with Weaver especially hitting me in emotional places. That young gal = i haven't looked her up but what an astonishing reveal. The writing is superior. So many little reveals and truths. All of the supporting players deserve major props. Damn. I watched this in two nights because it was so engrossing. Cholodenko? You had me at hello. Emmys for everyone.

Watched first two eps; so far pretty well made, Lisa Cholodenko directs matter-of-factly, with simple camera set-ups but then she gets a little too close to the actors, and that confrontational tightness highlights the shame and panic of the situation. There's attention to detail (Wever's religious precept, and little things like calling ahead for the conference room), and it's well acted, Danielle Macdonald and Kaitlyn Dever..... but there are some clunky scenes, and the structure hasn't settled yet.... unsure about Toni Collette....

Watched the first episode, and after this and Booksmart Kaitlyn Dever has skyrocketed to being amongst the best young actors working. This was so frustrating to watch but in a deliberate and appropriate way, inspiring anger and heartbreak at the injustice Marie increasingly faces. Looking forward to watching more.

Watching the Marie Adler plot line made me physically ache I can't even imagine that kind of pain. I was absolutely on board with what Cholodenko and company were doing from the getgo. From the initial interviews with Adler and the detectives it was clear that they lacked the grace to deal with the complexities of Adler's trauma and slowly built that into bullying. It was juxtaposed perfectly when Duvall was tasked the same in the second episode. The slow build up to those detectives being bullies was executed perfectly. Then Rasmussen saying "Bitch, you brought your game" to Duvall was the turning point for me to yeah this is specatacular stuff to wow this is a next level/all-timey stuff. And brought their game everybody did. Amazingly crafted, switching timelines at the perfect instances as to not interrupt momentum of either plot line. Collette & Weaver had amazing chemistry and just kicked ass here. Kaitlyn Dever continues to propel herself in new acting stratospheres at such a young age.
Alexa, play Justified season 1, episode 1.

I hadn't heard of this case so it was quite an experience to follow all the twists and turns. Very infuriating, harrowing and enthralling all the way through. Weaver really impressed me here and I liked the chemistry between her and Collette. Dever continues to be such an amazing talent since Short Term 12.

Just finished it - this was possibly the best thing I've seen on TV in ages. It had its slightly clunky moments, but mostly it was a searing exploration of rape and trauma while also being an entertaining, engaging detective story. I know it's unlikely as this is a true story, but I feel like I could watch 10 seasons of Collette and Wever solving crimes together - both were absolutely sensational, and had a really special chemistry. The show was always sensitive and empathetic towards victims of abuse, in a way many similar shows aren't, and its that raw humanity combined with the addictive quality of the storytelling that made the show stand out. 9.5/10

So far I really like that young actress - Kaitlyn Dever, I guess her name is. She's wonderful in those quiet moments to herself.

And having seen all of Unbelievable now, I am even more impressed by Dever. Very talented young actress. I also found Merritt Weaver incredibly convincing in her role.

Am I crazy or was Danielle Macdonald easily the MVP of this? I mean... Dever, Wever, and Collette (in that order) were all mostly great too... but Macdonald was unbelievably ( ) aching and real every second she was on screen. But outside of that, this was definitely great. I wish Cholodenko directed every episode (I thought she did beforehand) but this was less of a "film" (like the masterpiece Olive Kitteridge) and more of an actual miniseries so the multiple directors didn't really hurt it at all. Collette (though her character was annoying at times) and Wever were a great duo (and it's sad that no one here mentioned national treasure DALE DICKEY yet) and countering those two with Marie's story was incredibly well done. And Marie's redemption in the final episode, even though you know it's coming, was so beautifully cathartic... wow. aaaaand... two more things: 1. It was very nice to see Axl from The Middle in this... lol. 2. Marie's court-ordered therapist was lowkey the real MVP... what an excellent therapist!

Finally watched this and it was excellent. The first episode was difficult to get through due to how harrowing it was, but it really gets engaging once the Karen and Grace's investigation storyline begins. The last two episodes were particularly cathartic, and the way they merged the two different storylines was beautiful. Fantastic performances from Merrit Weaver, Kaitlyn Dever and Toni Colette; Kaitlyn in particular was a stand-out in the scene with the therapist.
10/10
