Now that they're both finished (sob), which of these criminally under-seen, critically acclaimed dramas from this decade do you prefer? They both rank in my all-time top 10, and deserve to be watched and discussed by so many more.
As amazing as it frequently was, I don't think The Americans ever reached the dizzying highs that the The Leftovers managed to achieve in its 2nd and 3rd seasons. The latter show's awe-inspiring creativity and ability to provoke emotion was pretty much unparalleled as far as I'm concerned. However, the former show has a more cumulative and well-rounded feel to it - this may be because it had more seasons to work with, but to me I think it gives it the slight edge between the two shows.
Full disclosure, I'm relatively fresh off of the The Americans series finale so recency bias may factor in here, but regardless they're both masterful shows and I could see myself changing my mind depending on the day.

I'm shocked that The Americans had all the votes here, especially on here where The Leftovers (I always thought) has so much love.
I personally think The Leftovers had no lows -- every season was so sophisticatedly crafted and purposeful, it was imo a work of art. I don't even put it in the category of regular television, its likee a three season movie lol. The Americans is just a well done TV show, so it's great and ranks high for me. But there are a handful of weak moments, I didn't particular take to season 3 (or maybe it was 2, I forget). Loved the final season and it cements the show as a great show, but The Leftovers is just ... a different category altogether.

The Leftovers was much more engrossing and fascinating. Higher highs, for sure.

Can’t believe I never voted in this poll.
They’re my two favorite dramas of the decade (excluding The Return), and that certainly makes them two of my all-time favorites. I give the slight edge to The Leftovers, for its atmosphere, world, and sheer creativity, though The Americans does certainly have it beat for consistency.

The Americans. The Leftovers indeed has higher highs, but the first season is also quite weak.

Love both to death but it's The Americans for me.
