Interesting to see this Shade of Roman. Also i didn't know media houses call the races in US elections. Learnt a thing today. The media doesn't have any actual legal authority to declare a winner. What they're doing is arguably more sinister, which is influencing public opinion by calling an election that couldn't be called; planting seeds of discontent if/when it's proven Mencken didn't actually win, there will be a narrative of the election being "stolen" from him and so on. Basically it's Mencken's request to Roman - "If I lose, I want it correctly characterized as a victory" - taken to its extreme.

Yes, even if Jimenez wins when the votes are counted (very possible, since we see other networks didn't follow ATN), he's ensuring he will be a blight into American democracy for a long time.

Following that act would be tough for anyone, but Roman really was the least qualified person for the moment. Also, this sets neatly for all the kids to be out of the company, because no way Mencken would allow Shiv in that role.

"Woof woof." It's always been one of this show's great super powers that they bring in James Cromwell once per season to bring down the house, but holy shit was that monologue next level. Arguably career-best work from one of our great talents. And that immediately followed by the Culkin breakdown ... sheeesh. And at the end of the day, we are one plausible chess move away from a Greg as CEO finale

Strong performances from the trio. Loved the intensity of the episode.

I hope Frank, Karl, Gerri and Karolina gets to be in, with Mattson making Gerri the American CEO.

As long as they don't fumble the finale (doubtful), Succession is firmly in my top 5 shows of all time. Possibly top 3. Perfect from start to finish.

going to need to sit on this one for a bit. not too sure what to think exactly. definitely a gloomy final but that was to be expected. the whole last minute or so felt really weird especially, that final shot.. i don’t know. i like the ending (i think lmao) but not sure that i like *how* they got there.

Great episode but I don't know if I liked the last 15 minutes. Personally, I would have "liked" a different direction even if I can understand it. I'll have to sit with it for a while and see how it grows on me. Still a great show and it will go down as one of the best all of time. Spoilers... Immediate thoughts - I'm team Kendall and wanted him to win. I wasn't exactly expecting a happy ending but the "twist" seemed a bit unearned. I always thought none of the kids beocoming CEO was the most likely outcome but I don't understand Shiv's motivation at the end. Why go through the process of "annointing a king" if you are going to be the one to kill it anyway? I like Tom and would have been fine with him in any other circumstance but they they way they did it felt uneccesarily cruel. Ending on that last shot is also a brutal way to leave your audience.

"It's nothing. We're bullshit." Stunning finale. This show has often been at its best exploring the stunted development of these characters and portraying them as children in adult bodies, and this episode illustrated that so vividly in its three best sequences: the sincere playfulness of "a meal fit for a king," their awestruck reverie of the video footage of dinner with Logan, and of course the climatic showdown that reduces them to the basest versions of themselves who can only bicker and flail and cry. It's just a genius stroke of writing that the way the waiter's death leads to Kendall's downfall is not because it's publicly exposed in a way that materially ruins him, but that he simply denies it ever happened and thereby sabotages the only meaningful relationships he has left intact. Brutal. Apologies to all my fellow Tomheads for doubting his CEO viability and props to the many online who were predicting it ahead of the finale ... Didn't see it coming but milquetoast corporate servant being the ultimate successor just works like a charm.
