So far, the case against Freeman is looking pretty flimsy. Video and audio "evidence" on two of the cases make this whole thing seem like a joke. The reporter (Chloe Melas) who started this "investigation" based on supposedly lewd comments Freeman made towards her looks ridiculous and petty if you see the junket comment on video she was complaining about. Michael Caine makes some comment about being with a pregnant woman 50 years ago, Freeman say "I wish I was there", and this reporter construes that as sexual misconduct towards her!?! Freeman didn't even look like he was aiming the comment at her. Melas is rightly being roasted on Twitter right now, because her "video evidence" of Freeman sexually harrasing her is beyond laughable. If the Reporter's own case has no credibility, then the story is probably dead.
A former co-worker of Freeman said this Melas woman approached them to discuss any potential "harrasment" and was cold calling people Freeman worked with because he made her cry. The co-worker said that they felt Melas was conducting a personal vendetta against Freeman, and as them not to tell anyone what they discussed.
Another audio has Freeman flirting and making mutual innuendoes with another reporter, and they are both clearly enjoying the banter.
Now that people are taking a closer look at this, and so far Freeman doesn't look like anything other than an incorrigible old flirt. The stuff Stan Lee was accused of doing a few months ago seemed more serious, and that's already forgotten.. If these "cases" don't actually start showing more subtance, not only will Freeman survive, this case may be the death knell of the MeToo movement, because it's gotten to a point in many people's eyes where people are trying to criminalise flirtation or even attraction to the opposite sex.

I just watched a video of Melas accusing Freeman of 'sexually commenting' on her during the "Going in Style" junket and it's...I mean...I'm at a loss for words. Freeman makes a joke about wanting to have witnessed an awkward and funny situation Caine has just told them about, and she now decides to frame it as if it was somehow related to her? Like, even what he says doesn't make ANY GODDAMN SENSE if related to her, it only makes sense in the context of that Caine story. Does she believe that viewers don't have ears or eyes or brains? Is she actually a product of satire implemented to check whether we are actually willing to jump to conclusions without looking at evidence? Because it's beyond pathetic (and hilarious) when she sits there talking about being harrased by him and then shows the video and there's literally NOTHING there of the sort. If this were in a movie, people would think it's stupid and unbelievable. MeToo is a good movement, but fuckers like this just set it several hundreds steps back.

This is why I wanted to stand back and take a moment before saying the guy should never be hired again. I worded it poorly, but I don't want attacks on people's character being called credible instantly. Let's see where the rest of this goes, though. I don't want to come down on one side or the other until there is more out there.

I pretty much ignored this one due to the fact that I didn't understand why this was coming out now rather than in oh, I don't know OCT like all the rest of the crap. So when I spoke to my mother the other day:
Mom - did you hear about Morgan Freeman? Me - yeah Mom - I saw the video, but I don't understand any of it Me -hmmm
So of course, I decided to look at the video cause even though my mother can be cluesless in regards to this type of stuff, I knew that she wasn't that slow on the uptake.
I watched that video, and I rolled my eyes... hard.
Morgan needs to sue that Chloe chick for slander and he needs to call 911 on her ass.

So, you think Freeman's career should be over?? WOW! Totally disagree and, whether you like it or not, I think there's very slim chance that it is. If he's guilty of it, there needs to be some punishment, and if people decide not to employ him, well, there you go. It's not like he's gonna starve if he doesn't get hired anymore. I think he's a talented actor (shitty Oscar win aside), but talent does not excuse being a creep. I doubt his career will suffer too harshly as it is, but he shouldn't be let off with a slap on the wrist either. Oh honey, I could beat him if you like... I still have the black leather stuff that got me through college.

Oh. My. Goodness. This would be funny if it weren't so sad. In clip #1, he's flirting with the interviewer, but it's just flirting, and she isn't objecting to it or appearing uncomfortable. In the second.... there aren't words. There truly aren't. Not to say that the anonymous interviewees had their words twisted the way that Tyra Martin says hers were, though. I believe in establishing real guilt before we lynch someone, but just because Melas is totally nuts doesn't mean that there isn't real harassment going on. But she needs to be taken the hell off the case (anyone with a personal vendetta shouldn't lead an investigation, and this is why) and give this to someone who will determine if these claims have actual merit.

Another female journalist Kristine Morata has come out and said she didn't feel harrased or threatened by Freeman"s junket banter. She said she thought it was innocent.
I have the feeling Morgan Freeman might soon become the richest actor in Hollywood, because I"m struggling to see how he could lose a defamation suit against CNN.
His lawyers have to be going for a gigantic number (especially considering Freeman has already lost endorsements because of this reporting). 1 billion dollars? 2 billion dollars? That's the type of money you have to take from CNN for them to overhaul their journalistic standards.

The CNN clips are meh, but these Entertainment Tonight clips are a tad creepy. Sounds like an old guy who still has game to me. He"s just a flirtatious dude. This is illegal now? Worthy of a potentiallly career destroying expose? I call bullshit. I 100% guarantee you that you could put together a far more graphic and innuendo laced set of junket interviews with Jack Nicholson over the years. But of course it"s ok for Jack to make suggestive banter because he"s supposed to be a ladies man, while Freeman is not expected to have a pulse or a penis because he"s played God.

Idk if there's anything more serious beyond these clips, but I do find them a tad creepy. Besides, he dated his step-granddaughter. It's not illegal, but it definitely makes the accusations (which are more than just a couple) seem more credible. I've always found Nicholson to be pretty creepy as well.

Whatever happened to this anyway? I just stumbled across this before going to bed, and it reminded me of the case: The story kind of fell apart because the lead journalist (Chloe Melas) whose initial acussation prompted the story, became a laughing stock after her on-camera 'evidence' of Freeman harassing her turned out to just be Freeman responding to something Michael Caine said at a press junket. After that, a couple of the female journalists Melas named in her story as 'victim's of Freeman said that they were misrepresented in the story and found Freeman's flirty banter to be mostly harmless. The story just completely lost credibility and Melas came off as a cynical reporter using #metoo to try and get a career boost. Freeman instructed his lawyers to tell CNN to retract the story. CNN said they were standing by it (But mainly because if they admitted any wrongdoing, Freeman would probably be the new owner of the network). CNN and every other news outlet stopped covering the story because it fell apart so badly. There is probably some legal stuff quietly going on in the background now between Freeman and CNN, but I guess it's in the interest of both parties for this story to go away. Hopefully Freeman gets some kind of settlement, as he lost a couple of jobs when the story hit. CNN have not fired Melas, as it would be an admission of their negligence if they did. But she'll never be taken seriously again as a journalist
