Bradley Cooper seems to be unpopular on the board. I don't know. I like the guy. He was so good in A Star is Born that he won me over. He did a fine job directing that too. Yeah I really don’t get the hate. I’m not saying I love him in every single role but certainly like him more than not in most. And he definitely should have won Best Actor for ASIB. In all fairness, I haven't seen Bohemian Rhapsody to comment on whether or not he was superior to Malek, but he blew me away in ASIB. I've seen him do that and I've seen him be absolutely hilarious. And I look forward to seeing him in Nightmare Alley (well, I just want to see the film, period). I saw some people saying they wanted Leonardo DiCaprio for that part, but to me that would have been boring casting. Based on what I've seen, I'm with you on liking him more often than not.

I do like him as an actor and am interested to see how he develops as a director, but mostly I kinda just can't help but root for him because he's the one guy who was a student at Pace University who actually made it lmao. I watched Inside the Actors Studio so much growing up, I was obsessed with that show and really loved seeing all the advice to the students. It's like, vindicating or something. I always wanted to see somebody emerge out of there.
I remember when he came back as a guest in 2011 and the biggest thing he'd done was The Hangover. He was promoting Limitless at the time...it was a good episode and a nice moment for Lipton but felt premature, like, "yeah alright, whatever, I guess this is our guy." Then Silver Linings Playbook was the next year and I've just enjoyed seeing him become a bigger star and turning in impressive work, earning his legitimacy. It's kind of silly but I'm a little proud of him! What can I say.

I have had the misfortune of seeing Bohemian Rhapsody, and the only award Rami Malek deserved was a Razzie. Ethan Hawke not making it in that year was another embarrassment.
Bradley Cooper is an actor that, prior to ASIB, I found to be overrated. I think I was in the majority when this was announced, coming at it with an extreme amount of skepticism. Once I left the theater, I figured that his Oscar win was a done deal. Honestly though, if Judy Garland couldn't win an Acting Oscar for her version of A Star is Born, it's likely no one ever will (assuming there will be another one many years down the line).

So that's why they hired Kazu Hiro ("Darkest Hour", "Bombshell") to do the makeup. Damn.

For anyone who can't view the photos posted earlier. This already feels like one of those "Yep, he's winning" first looks like with the first photos of Oldman as Churchill and DDL as Lincoln. We know how much the Academy loves transformations (people were skeptical of Chastain in Tammy Faye, and look at how that turned out), so doubt him at your own peril. If a nom ends up being Cillian's reward, I'm fine with that.

Yeah, if the movie isn't too bad and he doesn't face a Hopkins/DDL kind of juggernaut, it's clear the Oscar is Cooper's to lose.

Honestly, I know it'll never happen to the man who managed to make A Star is Born about the guy in the age of MeToo, but that Alec Guinness in Oliver Twist nose is surely going to get SOME backlash
