I like the sound of this, but am I the only one who doesn't really care for Carrie Coon.

Are you going off of Fargo then, perhaps? I liked her in it quite a lot, but they really didn't use her all that well. Carrie Coon at the height of her powers is a thing to behold.

I've been waiting for 7 years for this. Finally another Sean Durkins movie. Honestly, he could cast Paris Hilton and I'd be excited.

This might be the one to turn me around on her, as I do like the sound of it.

MMMM would have been a classic were it not for a couple of small hiccups. This seems like a perfect follow-up for Durkin's sensibilities, and a perfect cast for Durkin's style. Count me as excited.

Looks great. I’d be more that happy for this to drop on demand right now.

new trailer from IFC. Movie releases this Friday.
(look at that adorable grumpy face!)
Curious how this will turn out because based on the marketing there are a few different paths it might take--something more basic like Revolutionary Road-style suburban squabbling, something psych horror or thriller-based (when Law says "there's nothing with this house", PLUS the IMDb premise mentions things taking a "twisted turn" and the wikipedia premise highlights tension caused by the isolation of their new environment), or something akin to Gone Girl (dear god please not that). Haven't read any of the reviews so I have no idea.
we excited? Durkin's return to the screen is nearly a decade in waiting.

If there is no horror element involved, it will be very interesting. Otherwise, I dunno...

I'm definitely excited - looks very intriguing and dramatic, though the main draw for me is still Law and Coon.

This might've been a gothic Shoot the Moon but it's more like The Boost ('88) unfortunately - this 80s set dark family drama of fronts and grief and little lies and big metaphors suffers from having such a halfway-there script that just repeats itself and becomes less interesting. Sean Durkin can direct though - the careful first act has a lot of visual story-suggestion and mood to it, the filmic visuals look great, and the perfs especially Jude Law are quite good. 6/10 or so.

I loved Coon and Law, but I couldn't help but wonder how killer this would have been as a vehicle for Glenn Close and Jeremy Irons in the 80s, as a contemporary story. pacinoyes
