Damn, what a legend. No matter how many awful movies he makes, he'll still go down as one of the best actors of all time.
Films: 1. The Godfather Part II 2. The Godfather 3. Dog Day Afternoon 4. Serpico 5. The Insider
Performances: 1. The Godfather Part II 2. Serpico 3. The Godfather 4. Dog Day Afternoon 5. Donnie Brasco
I'm not sure what to think about Hangman. Could be something really compelling or something really cliche and trashy.

TOP 5 FILMS: 1. Angels in America 2. The Godfather: Part II 3. Glengarry Glen Ross 4. Dog Day Afternoon 5. Serpico
TOP 5 PERFORMANCES: 1. Roy Cohn 2. Dr. Jack Kevorkian 3. Ricky Roma 4. Michael Corleone (Part 1) 5. John Milton
I have no expectations for Hangman, but I do have to throw in my admiration for Pacino that, unlike his vaunted contemporaries De Niro and Nicholson and Hoffman, he realized that his success had also put him in a staid rut of repetition and laziness, and he sought to break that by going back to the stage and tackling projects worth his salt with the ambition and verve of an actor in his prime. His HBO work, for me, is more impressive than the incredible streak he had in the '70s, and I think his latter-day surge of ambition and drive has put him in a class above the other three for me.
Here's to you, Al, and here's hoping pacinoyes is celebrating your milestone in equal style.

How about Dabka? Premieres in two days. One reviewer saw it already and said Pacino gives a “smart performance that is a refreshing reminder of what an excellent actor he is.” Thattttt’s more like it. I was halfway trolling with my Hangman question. I don't like the sound of that Dabka review tbh. Anyone that needs a reminder that Pacino is an excellent actor is a moron.

Literally just came on here to give this a bump, beat me by 8 minutes you sunnuva...
Was gonna post the scene from HEAT where he comforts/shields the mother of the Waingro victim but couldn't find the damn thing on Youtube or anywhere else after 20 minutes of searching. Such a quietly tender moment in a performance that a lot of plebs consider OTT and nothing else.
So instead I'll post this... not an actor on this planet or any other besides King Al that could pull this off:

I could spend all day posting some of my favorite scenes of Pacino. The legend. The King. The Master. And most of all, a true artist. I know he's probably not the best ever, but in my eyes, he'll always be the greatest of them all. Happy birthday, Godfather. I hope you live long enough to be 120 years old.

Happy bday to the best... Now until his 80th is shaping up to be huge - American Icon Award next month, QT in the summer, The Irishman, The Hunt - he's never done a TV series or a few period pieces in a row like this. He might be up for an Oscar. He's still surprising us--you can't predict what he'll do next. Back to the stage? Another hybrid directing project? King Lear finally? which I do think will start up this year or more likely next. He probably thinks he has to be 80 to play Lear. Another thing - his two kids turned 18 a few months ago. What'll empty nester Al be doing with all this new free time.....
