Nice. Love how Winstead doesn't utter a single word yet I can't help but feel intrigued by her character. Can't wait.

I wanna watch because of Mary but haven't seen the other two seasons. These are stand alone seasons, right? If not, where can I catch up on Season one and two?

Yeah, they're stand alone so you don't really need to catch up. But you probably should anyway. I'm pretty sure season 1 was on Hulu a few months back, 2 might be there by now.

One of my favorite openings to a television show possibly ever.
For one, Freeman and Odenkirk's phenomenal performances. Freeman lying through his teeth and Odenkirk in udder shock, complimented by the brilliant writing of Freeman's monologue.
Then, the fact that you haven't seen the title card yet, and it doesn't come up for a very long time because of the length of the monologue, yet you're so absorbed that you don't realize how much time has actually passed.
And then the title card comes up in blood red just as Freeman gives a sly, evil smile with deep, dark, low brass horns. Just, chills! I was so blown away with the opening, it took a moment to suck myself back into the show.

Seen the first episode from Season 3. I liked it. I like Mary Elizabeth Winstead's character already. She is this seasons's Kirsten Dunst. I can't stand Ewan McGregor though. Hope this season delivers in the same level of the previous ones.

I gotta say, I found it to be a pretty disappointing premiere. The performances were pretty solid across the board, but the whole thing just felt sloppy and contrived. The air-conditioner scene especially just left me baffled; no way would the police think it was an accident, and there would be splinters and Ewan's footprint and signs of it being legitimately tampered with to prove it wasn't an accident. Plus, how did Scoot McNairy even know where to find Ewan, if he couldn't even go to the right address? Also, how fucking convenient was it that there was an E. Stussy living in another neighborhood with a similar name, and that he was the stepfather of the chief of police (who has the ludicrous name of "Gloria Burgle")?
Don't get me wrong, there are elements of it that I thought were great (Coon and Winstead, plus the entirety of the Thewlis scene), but for the most part, this one was a swing and a miss. I really hope they course-correct quick.

Muuuuuuuuuuch better this week. Totally renewed my faith in this show. And... Might have set out where season 4 is going already?

I don't recall ever hearing the word "cocksucker" used in any previous season of Fargo until last night's second episode.

This one's okay. I'm starting to think that David Thewlis will take control and become the MVP with Mary Elizabeth Winstead stealing scene here and there.
The visual look is much better than the season 2, which was heavily color graded.

Preferred the second episode, just really hoping this isn't a True Detective season two situation.

Really great stuff this week. It felt steadier and more confident than last week's, and I think I liked it more. As it did last week, the Ray/Nikki relationship is feeling very reminiscent of the Ed/Peggy dynamic from last season, though Winstead's character is going a bit off the rails in a total different way; she's a wild card for sure and should be fun to watch in the episodes to come. I also like how we got to spend a bit more time with Emmitt this week (and Sy, with the underrated Michael Stuhlbarg getting a hilarious showcase so far this season), and I loved how this week's episode showed us that Emmitt and Ray both mean well in their relationship, but are doomed by the manipulations of their closest associates. Thewlis is still killing it (this week's MVP for sure), I adored that final sequence with him. Weird how Carrie Coon still feels like an afterthought here. I'm hoping next week we'll get some further fleshing-out of Gloria, as well as more intriguing developments in her investigation. Also can't wait to see more of Shea Whigham, another great underrated talent that I'm happy to see here.

S03E03- Loved this ep. best one thus far. Glad we got an entire ep of Carrie Coon. I liked the writer subplot and the oldest sentient being thing. They could add another 30 min of stuff and make it a really good movie on it's own.
I don't think this ep adds much to the rest of the series though.

I'm a sucker for flashback episodes, and detective/mystery stuff, and eternally cheery robots in epic cosmic tragedies, so I loved everything about this episode, and Francesca Eastwood... Thanks Clint!

I like it so far but I'm not getting the same intensity of feeling I got from last season. From the get-go, I loved the family dynamics, the mystery unfolding, the "villains" (Hanzee&Mike especially), the different factions soon to be facing off.
I'm definitely interested in the Vargas plot, MEW's character, and Coon's character solving the 'mystery', but I don't care as much for the characters or the stakes. Also not feeling Ewan McGregor or his duo role.
