Can't tell if the Succession lead-in is just doing this show no favors or if that was just an insanely boring episode of TV.

I used to think DDL and Denzel in a film together would be a cinematic event, but DDL coming out of retirement in a film with Mark Wahlberg?? I dig....I dig

I dig....I dig The second they said "Daniel Day-Lewis," I knew Gene was gonna do it. I mean, come on -- Moss dying to bring DDL out of retirement is a noble sacrifice.

Yeah, Gene did a 180 on his morality stance real quick when he heard DDL wanted to play him. Way to use your prestige tv show to coax DDL out of retirement Bill..lol

When he said, "Mark Wahlberg...are you shitting me?!" he meant it disparagingly, right? I hope so.

When he said, "Mark Wahlberg...are you shitting me?!" he meant it disparagingly, right? I hope so. It sounded like he was in awe because Wahlberg (in his eyes) is a bona fide movie star who pulls in audiences. The Day-Lewis angle was the worm on the hook, and once he was caught, the old fame-hungry Gene started to rise back to the surface.

Pretty funny to call My Left Foot a deep cut like it wasn't DDL's first Oscar.

Pretty funny to call My Left Foot a deep cut like it wasn't DDL's first Oscar. If he had gone "Daniel Day-Lewis? From Eversmile, New Jersey?", that would've made total sense for Cousineau.

Great episode I find kinda distracting that Barry was able to escape that easily from Moss though Did Miss stop giving a shit about Barry when he assumed Barry was just the hired gun? There may be a reason for this, I hope

Tricky legacies.
Kind of a preachy finale. But as a Fuches fanboy, I shouldn't complain too much.

HBO deciding to air Succession's final season before this one for seven consecutive weeks: The time jump initially gave this show the most juice it'd had in awhile, and then for the final three episodes it just swerves into the most weirdly bland and vanilla direction possible... I liked the final sequence well enough but honestly left me wishing we had an entire final season that was this descent into meta-narrative of recreating the entire show in the veneer of Hollywood commodifying real tragedy in a way that would've been funny and in keeping with the satirical origins of this show as opposed to the generic crime drama stuff we got instead. Oh well.

Oh well. The show honestly peaked with season 2, which is still one of my favorites of all time. Shame.

wasn't feeling this season. Can't say the resolution to Hank and Cristobal's story was surprising but it did make all the suffering they went through together in S3 feel kinda superfluous. There's only so much you can do with half-hour eps but it was really jarring watching the S4 premier with them hanging in Santa Fe and then deciding on a whim "hey let's go back to LA!" So much trauma that was uncommented on for most of the season and didn't feel resolved at all. Barry's escape from prison was as surprising as it was... kind of irritating? That was the peak of the season with the filler time skip serving as conduit for the final couple episodes to just neatly tie off loose ends. Surprising but didn't feel organic, and the slower pace totally prevents the backhalf from feeling as immediate and tense as we're used to from this show. It just peters out toward the end. Liked the Fuches resolution but not so much Cousineau's. Carrigan and Root were the MVPs this season. Carrigan deserves all the awards.

Almost done with Barry Season 4. Just finished Episode 4. I have to say, the final season (or is it?), seems very light on the jokes. It takes a dark turn in Season 4. I laughed quite frequently in Seasons 1-3. It's my type of humor.
I noticed right away that Sally's agent was the same woman who was in the Sunny episode, where they watch Thundergun IV: Maximum Cool. Cool to see Elsie Fisher and Guillermo del Toro in this show.
