What do we all think? I liked the show a fair deal, so it will be cool to re-visit with these characters, and almost all the original cast are coming back from the sounds of it, so that's a cool thing too.
Hopefully it's good stuff.

I take it they're ignoring the finale reveal?

I take it they're ignoring the finale reveal? From what I recall of that last Season, I think they may need to ignore a while bunch of stuff. I guess time will tell how they handle it.

I take it they're ignoring the finale reveal? I was wondering about that too. I saw a few headlines about it, and ABC is already promoting it for next season, but I didn't know who was coming back and where they'd pick up. I dont think I'd watch it without Dan because John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf were undoubtedly two of the most talented regular cast members. Plus, I think the t would be too depressing if they wrote Dan out. I'd be okay with Jackie not being a regular just because I know Metcalf might not be available due to her theater and other television commitments and Metcalf wasn't the heart of the show as Goodman was. Plus, like just about every other loyal Roseanne viewer, I hated the final season especially the finale, so it's probably best just to skip that whole season.

Too bad Roseanne has turned into such a raging lunatic and peddles conspiracy theories like Pizzagate.

I used to watch the original via reruns.
I don't agree with Rosanne's politics at all, but I thought the show was surprisingly a lot more tolerant than I thought it would be. Now I'm conflicted because conservatives are taking credit for its big success.
I don't watch sitcoms anymore but I thought it was entertaining and it was good to see everyone back together.
Anyone watch the premiere? Are we expecting this to make a dent in Globe/Emmy nods (like the original)?

Are we expecting this to make a dent in Globe/Emmy nods (like the original)? Metcalf to get robbed by Janney at the Emmy's and Oscar's all in the same year? I used to sporadically watch the original back in the day and am very intrigued to see this one. Sadly doesn't look like it's airing anywhere here any time soon.

Yeah, I was worried at first, but I like the overall direction they seem to be going. Crazy how they all seem to have fallen seamlessly back into the characters, and how the sets are exactly the same. It was halfway through the garage scene before it even hit me "Oh shit, they perfectly recreated the garage." My main problem was something very small and nitpicky, which was the way the transitions are handled, how they used to linger on those exterior shots before a scene began, but now there's just those abrupt cuts that feel very "modern ABC", if that makes sense.

I liked it. It made me chuckle pretty consistently and I enjoyed the look at politically divided families in post-2016 America.

It's really good! I like how Roseanne and Jackie would throw barbs at each other. It wasn't a pure "Trump is wonderful" kind of outlook, more of a "how do we make Trump supporters seem rational in some context?" They handled the controversial opinions/issues very well. I'm a tad disappointed that Roseanne doesn't sound as shrill I like how they handled the Dan being dead and the Becky jokes regarding Sarah Chalke. It's really creepy how identical the house looks. It's like they never left. I don't know how the original run was never nominated for comedy series.

I was able to watch the Will and Grace reboot even though I neither watched it nor gave a shit about it; on the other hand I actually would quite like to check out the Roseanne one.

Good on ABC for cancelling a show despite great ratings, because its lead a terrible human-being. Pretty shocking in all honestly.

So happy to see ABC not equivocating and instead firmly drawing a line in the sand on this. Roseanne went far beyond the pale on this.
Now John Goodman can be in good things again.

Good. She is repulsive inside & out. And now it frees up a lot more time for Goodman to be in more films.

And now hundreds of people working on the show who were not racist at all just lost their jobs. Good fucking job Roseanne.

Maybe it’ll be rebooted again. Roseanne will die and the show will be renamed “Dan” and be primarily a showcase for John Goodman’s acting abilities.
But in all seriousness, hope this’ll give John Goodman and Laurie Metcalf more time for film roles.

I think it's very sad. The re-booted show was one of the few that was actually on the side of things interesting and necessary too - I often talk about the vulgarity of a lot of our pop-Art being glorification of wealth - sickeningly so. At its best the show was the opposite of that, it was an examination of what it meant to barely get by.
There's something psychological in what she did even more than being racist or whatever that meltdown was - it's like never being able to appreciate what you have and a need to put obstacles in your way.
I hope somebody else covers that voice in something - the show as heavy handed and clumsy as it was - I watched it, laughed and felt it and recognized it as my America a whole lot more than most stuff I come across on TV.

Here's the thing: people need to stop saying stupid shit cause you don't know when they will start holding people respondable for their actions. She got the memo, she knew to shut her trapped but she pressed on...well she miscalculated.

Have you watched The Middle? It did a variation of what Roseanne did for the (lower-ish) middle class for the last nine years.
