I'll post an even bigger FYC to combat with the others because you all seriously need to see this movie. You think you won't cry, then you do, and it's amazing:

Is You Were Never Really Here the only film that is going to be affected by these rules? I mean, for me personally I'm definitely consider it a 2018 release. I just made the rules what they are to keep consistent with what pendragon is doing for previous years. Well, even Pendragon says that we should do it differently for the current AMARAs on the basis that films will get cheated out of being considered at all. For the past years, everything should have already seen release that is going to see release, and everyone will pretty much have their chances to watch what they wish.

Is it too late to suggest we insert a "primary" round of voting? After initial nominees are announced, we could vote for the most outstanding. Unless a certain nominee gets more than half the votes, we would announce the top two and vote between those. Like we do in primaries voting for US president.
So, for example, if A Movie gets 35% of the vote, but the other 65% detest it, it wouldn't win. It would face off against the nominee with the next highest amounts of votes, let's say Bee Movie, which got 25%. However, the 40% of voters who voted for other nominees all far prefer Bee Movie to A Movie, so their re-votes would give the win to Bee Movie. This would be fair because it shows Bee Movie appeals most strongly to most voters, rather than A Movie. If the Oscars did this in 2005, Brokeback Mountain would have the win over Crash.

That would remove passion from the process, though. I'd argue against it, if for no other reason than the fact that I much prefer Crash to Brokeback Mountain. Btw, A Movie for your viewing pleasure! It is indeed better than Bee Movie.

ELIGIBLE [19-10] YOU WERE NEVER REALLY HERE is............. NOT ELIGIBLE [15-13] Y'all better come correct for Ramsay in 2018. Otherwise, you're gonna catch these hands.

Hopefully I'll be able to see You Were Never Really Here by then. i hope you see within the next year+ also.. Depends on whether or not it comes to my theater, or it comes to Catamount, otherwise I may have to buy it online or watch it from another site (augh to that idea).

So I guess we're sticking with country-of-origin release then? That's fine, I won't fuss about it anymore.
I just need to see a few more films before I submit my ballot. Don't see them impacting my lineups all that much though.

Yeah it would be a minor travesty if anyone voted w/o seeing Thelma Are there any decent links online? The one I found had shitty amateur English subs and I'm not about to watch a movie where the subtitle translation butchers the screenplay. I've put a lot of foreign movies on the backburner for that reason. Professional subs or no dice.

I just rented it on Amazon

Are Zama and Foxtrot eligible here? Both are not screening anywhere here in my city (as expected) and I'm pretty sure home release won't arrive for months, so I doubt I'll be able to catch up with them before the deadline

FYC: me
Oh honey, it is such a shame the MPAA banned my movie just as I was getting rave reviews: Variety called it 'a sickening display exhibitionistic narcissism', The Hollywood Reporter said my performance was 'more athletic than cirque du soleil' LAPD thought it was 'Educational and probably a felony'...
I can't see why they couldn't have given it a NC-48 rating...
You can imagine how great I was. Please vote for me, honeys.
