At this point, Woody should just hop on the bandwagon and put out a statement saying "I'll never act in another Woody Allen film ever again".

I give Caine a little leeway here, he has a history of speaking on child abuse and he's basically saying, I am old enough and Allen's old enough where I don't need to take the risk.
That to me is quite different from Natalie Portman (a bit malicious and inaccurate in her choice of words), Timothee Chalamet (Fnck you seriously), Colin Firth (Fnck you too)
Those 3 say are also different from Mira Sorvino (a victim), Rebecca Hall (more reasonable), Jeff Daniels (quite reasonable)
There's no bigger Woody Allen fan (or defender) than me - but sometimes you got step back and assess exactly what people are saying.....
Now, on the other other hand, give your Oscar back........now that sounds silly, but so is this premise to begin with.....

I mean, they haven't worked together in over 30 years anyway, so I don't think the confirmation from Caine was really all that necessary. His legacy at this point in pretty bulletproof that if he wanted to retire after being in one more Woody Allen film...I don't think anyone would begrudge him for doing so.

Caine 's comment makes no sense and he felt as though he had to be part of the narrative. I mean, he's 84 and like you stated hasn't been cast for over 30 years. The odds were zero.

I understand why him or certain people who has work with Allen would like to give an opinion on the case but there's something nonsensical ad ridiculous about the whole "I Wouldn’t Work With Him Again" ..... I mean what is he talking about ? It's been more than 30 years since Allen called him to work with him, ridiculous dude.

This is not simply Michael Caine saying he won't work with Woody Allen again. As has been brought up, it's not as though Caine was really in the running to work with Allen again anyway. But there is still something to be said about an elder statesman in the acting field like Michael Caine publicly stating he would not work with a director based on these allegations. And that statement carries more weight from someone like Caine to say this as his work with Allen predates the allegations and Caine is very much the real deal given his work with the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children; it's a lot harder to dismiss this as simple virtue signaling or him trying to cover his own ass given those details.
