At a certain point though you start to wonder if your favorite actor has gone to the well too much, and specifically talking Pacino here - Kevorkian, Spector, Paterno, Hoffa, that's a lot of very visible, very famous scandal ridden types to play in less than 10 years......I mean I'm not saying he won't even play them well, I'm just saying, you kind of have boxed yourself in now.
It might not matter when your almost 80 years old in his case but it's something younger actors have to be aware of......

I dunno, I feel that the draw is that there aren't many great roles for actors of a certain age that aren't grandparents or old fogies in framing stories waxing nostalgic about their younger days. But Pacino's gone for roles that not only suit his age, but also challenge his versatility (who would ever have thought anyone could play both Jack Kevorkian and Phil Spector, much less Paterno?). I actually think that these roles have kept Pacino away from having to rely on old crutches and fallback tricks, and that forces him to do new things that might otherwise have never been attempted, and they have largely worked of late.
