I just realised that I don't love any of these 8. There's at least one better performance in each respective year. None of them are offensively bad though, which is a lot more than what you can say about actress and especially supporting actress winners.


1. Casey Affleck - I actually liked it more when I first saw it but it's still holding up pretty well.
2. Daniel Day-Lewis - Didn't care much about the film but he was very good, as he usually is.


3. Leonardo DiCaprio - At least he didn't win for The Wolf. Didn't buy his chemistry with his son for a second but for the rest of the film he was good and very committed.
4. Matthew McConaughey - I don't really see the big fuss about this performance but he was easily the best thing about that mediocre film.
5. Jean Dujardin - Pretty solid though not overly exciting.
6. Colin Firth - Same as Dujardin


7. Gary Oldman - Standard Oscar bait.
8. Eddie Redmayne - Standard Oscar bait.
