If you haven't been following, Monique has called for a boycott of Netflix based on gender and racial bias because she felt Netflix were going to pay her too low a fee for doing a stand-up comedy special. Her justification is that she's the most decorated comedian (or comedienne?) alive (which I think is unfair to Whoopi Goldberg, but whatever) and that since the guy at Netflix called her a legend, she should be paid what a legend like Dave Chappelle makes, and she should be paid the same as Amy Schumer.
She was on the Breakfast Club and it was a great interview. She was really upset with Charlamagne for naming her Donkey of the Day (which is a segment he regularly does).
What I took away from this is that Monique is a drama queen and slightly delusional and possibly being egged on by her husband who is providing bad management. He didn't even make a counteroffer to Netflix.
Charlamagne is right that the business is about what have you done lately and how many seats you can sell out. Dave Chappelle puts asses in seats. Amy Schumer sold out Madison Square Garden twice. Monique's drawing power is not comparable. I think if Monique had the kind of drawing power Whoopi Goldberg used to have back in the day, then she would have more of an argument for racial/gender bias.
Also, notice whenever Angela Yee brings up all these situations where Monique was said to be difficult that she always has an excuse. Now she's making all these press stops asking for the boycott but I don't think she's going to get anywhere.
Although now I am interested to see what Tiffany Haddish would earn from a Netflix special because she's much hotter now as a comedienne than Monique.

"Oh yeah, I remember her... she was in that one movie that one time way back when..." - Majority of people.

There is something to be said for racial/gender inequality, but Mo'Nique is a notorious prima donna who, despite being an Oscar-winning actress and host of a popular reality show, has never been as in-demand a comedian as the likes of Chappelle or even Schumer.

Wait, she’s actually a comedian? I always thought she was a one hit wonder with that Precious movie.

Oh honey, the way you wrote it made it sound like being a drama queen and slightly delusional are bad things... Couldn't you just spin it and say she was empowered? Anyway, in case anyone is wondering... I never watch Netflix as I have plenty of drama (and some horror, but that's mainly in the mornings) already in my life.

there's probably some degree of her wanting more than she's worth and some degree of legit discrimination, how much of which i'm not sure of

When she was on the View she talked about refusing to promote Precious in Cannes and ever since, Lee Daniels, Oprah Winfrey, Lionsgate and other people in the industry got her blackballed. That I believe, but I said at the time when she was asking to be paid to promote Precious for the award season that she was going to be considered difficult and people were not going to hire her. Her performance in Precious was undeniable, so she won, but moving forward, they were not going to forget that she didn't promote the film the way they tirelessly do during award season. Oh and her husband said that they were told constantly by Lionsgate "well, Halle Berry campaigned. Halle Berry even made breakfast for them." Halle Berry made breakfast to campaign for Monster's Ball? Damn, then why was she so shocked she won?

But yeah, if she's being all "they won't talk to me anymore"... umm... this is a business with fickle egos and a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately attitude. Hell, it's not even a Hollywood thing at this point. You work at a job and you say shit about the boss, don't expect a good reference letter for your resume.
