Who's seen it already and what did you think about it? Best of the year material already? Or laughably overrated?!!!

Just got out of it an hour ago. My skin is still crawling. It's atleast 9.5/10 for me. But yeah, this'll have its fair share of haters.

Are the characters as shallow as those in Ex Machina? Because the conceit of that film was good, but the character writing was godawful material.

Hope to see it this Saturday. Have to avoid spoilers like the plague. If it’s anywhere near good as Ex Machina, that’s fine by me.

Hope to see it at the end of april or on labor day. Have to avoid spoilers like plague. If It's anywhere near as good as Ex-Machina, that's fine by me. Why that late?

Never mind. I just realized that it will be on Netflix by March 12. Yeah, only America, Canada and China get it in cinemas. The rest of the world including here in Australia are getting it exclusively on Netflix on March 12th, no cinema release .

I liked it. It definitely dragged at times, but there were some undeniably great scenes (the bear scene, the final 15 minutes or so...). Definitely a great buildup of suspense with a satisfying conclusion. I'm not really sure what the point of the affair was though.... Portman was good... JJL on the big screen is always nice.... Isaac didn't really have much to do. 7.5/10... a little better than Ex Machina for me.

Really really liked it. But its not without its faults . As Viced mentioned, it definitely dragged at times . and could have done without the Gina Rodriguez character (she felt out of place next to the other more talented actresses)
The final 15 to 20 minutes are flat out SUPERB though! (my ears were still ringing as I left the theater).
Overall, I really dug this gnarly/trippy sci fi film 8.5/10

I would say I loved it were it not for the last 20 minutes or so. I don’t mind when films end ambiguously but I was too what-the-fucked out by it to process my thoughts. I was really diggin everything else prior to that. I think the majority of the cast is on point, with Rodriguez being the standout for me. However, I think some of it is weak, structurally at least. A lot of those flashbacks really took me out. I know they’re supposed to allow us to know Lena and her suffering a little more but it did kinda kill some of the momentum. Right now it’s like a 7 for me.

Everything up to the lighthouse was solid. After that, it was brilliant. I thought JJL kinda sucked tho

This was good/fine, but I guess I was expecting something...... more? It's dressed up to be this heady, cerebral mind-trip, but I actually thought it was rather straightforward in terms of content. Cool visuals, nice atmosphere, great score, but I felt like it was missing something, like a stronger thematic backbone. I feel like it tossed around some ideas but never really explored any of them, so really this movie is just kind of running on thrills and atmosphere, which is fine I guess, but the experience ended up being kind of underwhelming for me.
I definitely preferred Ex Machina and found that that to be much richer in its themes and had a clearer sense of what it was doing. This didn't really strike as much more than just a cool, intense, trippy experience.
I agree with the poster above who wasn't a fan of JJL. I sort of understood what she was going for with the whole jaded, stoic thing, but she ended just coming across as somewhat bored and wooden instead...

The last 30 minutes of this were absolutely sensational, and that scene in the hut was fantastic as well. The film in general was great.

I couldn't really have been too much more pleased with it than I ended up being. It was visually stunning, and I found myself almost immediately involved in the story. I feel like I'll watch this again within the next week, as I think a lot was happening in that last half hour or so that needs to be viewed again. It's a very solid 9/10 for now.

I need a re-watch to fully grasp and gather my thoughts but as an experience that was quite something. Great visuals and production design too.
