Now only did this "interview" make me laugh a lot but Pattinson's bluntness here is surprising and in some ways revealing. And I can't wait for The Lighthouse...

This movie excites me in ways I can't even describe. I never thought about it before, but Pattinson is very Dafoe-esque in his style and eclectic nature.

Oh my. Pattinson and Dafoe sharing the screen together is exactly what I need in my life right now.

The photo is like kind of scary/ominous all by itself - like if you showed a screenwriter that photo he could maybe concoct something whole out of that just as a starting point. I love the way Eggers sees film or at least seems to see it based on what he's done so far - like the way The Witch was lit or the scenes of the animals - Black Phillip was framed against the house or in the barn - or the children by the river. His eye is uncannily "right" it seems to me.
I'm really hopeful the black and white is a hint that the "fantasy" element is downplayed since that's not usually my thing and I'm dying (no pun intended) for a good horror film ......

To me they just look like two bored guys waiting by a lighthouse. So bored that Dafoe doesn’t realize his pipe is upside down.

that scraggly mustache looks so good on Pattinson. He especially looks like he just stepped out of the early 1900s.

I quite disliked The Witch, and festival reactions tend to be overblown. I'm holding back on this one. Hoping for the best, but expecting something middling.

The trailer is positively stupendous........and it also looks so specific and niche I'm tempted to say it gets nominated for absolutely nothing except maybe the amazing (best of generation?) Dafoe and some techs.
I mean that looks very specific in a way the (less than) middlebrow Academy would not always respond to.

Dafoe’s accent tho ... No idea what’s going on with any of this but I need it now.

If Willem Dafoe wins an Oscar for playing the sea captain from The Simpsons, I can die happy.

Terrific trailer. Visuals make it look like it was filmed in 1930s. I'm hyped.
