Welcome to the Movie Awards Redux Past Awards for 2016.
Each category will have up to 5 nominees. The categories are as follows:
Best Picture Best Director Best Actor Best Actress Best Supporting Actor Best Supporting Actress Best Ensemble Cast Best Original Screenplay Best Adapted Screenplay Best Cinematography Best Production Design Best Costume Design Best Makeup and Hair-styling Best Stunt Choreography Best Visual Effects Best Editing Best Sound Mixing Best Sound Editing Best Original Score Best Original Song
Please submit ranked ballots to me. You can submit ballots with less than the category's number or without certain categories other than the top 9.
The eligibility period will be for the first theatrical release in the film's country (or one of its countries) or origin. Look on IMDb for that information. So Eye in the Sky and Green Room would be eligible this year. The Lost City of Z will not and neither will The Lobster, which will be eligible in 2015.
The voting period will be until March 15th at 11:59pm EST. After the nominations are out, there will be a two week voting period and then the winners will be declared.
You can post any FYCs in this thread.

I think we should still call it the AMARAs for consistency's sake. So glad that we aren't sticking to stupid U.S. release date eligibility rules.
FYCs to come soon.

Wait, wait, wait -- why are we abiding by the asinine "up to 3" rule for Makeup?

Movies that I have seen that are 2016 eligible (but listed as 2015 in IMDb):
Green Room Into the Forest Last Days in the Desert Long Way North(?)* The Witch
*Long Way North is supposedly a Danish/French co-production, from what I have found. It's first non-festival release was in the Netherlands in 2015. The next release was France in January '16. In wasn't released in Denmark until January '17. So at the moment, I'm putting it in here? I'm likely to be the only person to watch (or enjoy) the film anyway, so it probably doesn't matter.

Wait, wait, wait -- why are we abiding by the asinine "up to 3" rule for Makeup? You're right, I don't normally think about makeup that much, but I'll just make all the categories 5 to be fair.

I It sounds like I can submit 50 in each category, the way you have it worded. Just want to know what my max number is. Sorry, that was weirdly worded. I won't count more than 5, but I just though if there were cases of eligibility issues, some backups wouldn't hurt.

We should also have a consensus on Leading or supporting placements in acting categories. When we get to '07 I don't want what will inevitably be Casey Affleck nominated in both. Ill start a thread where we can say who is borderline and want confirmation.

Awesome stuff, I shall be more than happy to vote. I may skip best song though, as I think it's a big dumb waste of time. I will post some FYCs later, not for best song though.
