This one hurts. Every year around this time, I get the urge to rewatch Frasier, and he is such an irreplaceable, majestic member of that ensemble. Grammer and Pierce got the lion's share of the awards/plaudits, but Mahoney's Martin was always one of my favorite sitcom dads (maybe my all-time favorite, actually). Go easy, Marty.
Fish, now you have to see him in Barton Fink.

RIP. Can't believe he was only 77.
Legendary on Frasier...... I also love him in John Sayles' Eight Men Out. Pretty decent filmography too... he popped up in a lot of good stuff in the 80s/90s.

In addition to Frasier he was a Mamet guy too and he'll always be unforgettable to me as WP Mayhew, the Faulkner character from Barton Fink.

Just watched In the Line of Fire again last night. I second the Barton Fink mentions as well.

His performance in Flipped is one of my favorite nice guy performances. He exuded warmth in that film.

For some reason, I thought he had already died (and would have been in his early to mid eighties).
I just saw him in Moonstruck: he was quite handsome!

Ugh! Personally, I was never into Frasier so John Mahoney will always be Diane Court's dad in Say Anything to me. This is an actor:
