Good ! Too many of these fucking creeps still think they are untouchable. It's about fucking time that realize that they no longer hold the power. Well done , the Academy , well done !

Well done , the Academy , well done ! The Academy didn't make this call. Affleck did.

First of all you had to give a great performance to beat Washington and he did and he deserved it.
Second, you have to be a total bad-ass to just show up and win award after award last year with Brie Larson staring judgmental daggers through you.
Third, you have to have the smarts to not go somewhere where multiple Brie Larson's will be staring daggers through you this year.
Advantage: Affleck

Even if the Academy deigned to listen to petitions, I doubt they needed to put pressure on Affleck. He read the writing on the wall.

Bringing someone back is not a given. It is up to the Academy who they want - and they don't need to give a reason for snubbing someone. Under the current climate, Affleck probably read the writing on the wall.

You're ASSuming that Affleck is guilty, even though there is ZERO evidence to back that up. And only a moron thinks settling = guilt. 2. This was a pathetic BULLYING tactic by the worst #MeCarthyism element of #MeToo & will be met with righteous backlash (just like Franco's snub). Considering Affleck is likely innocent & there's nothing to back the accusations up, bullying him into dropping out of presenting was nothing but a WITCH HUNT. 3. He gave a FANTASTIC performance (the best of last year in ANY category) & thoroughly EARNED his Oscar 100%! And innocent guys with flimsy unfounded accusations against them may not have been able to survive this year of #MeCarthyism, but trust me, this wave of hysteria WILL break, and roll back (to quote Dr. Thompson), so any future Affleck-like cases will have no trouble in awards season.

Advantage: Affleck You are TOO SMART for the age of SJW-owned social media, my friend. 👋👋👋 The irony is that, some time down the road, I think Affleck is waaay more likely to get a 3rd nod than Larson is of scoring a 2nd. She's very talented but has a limited set of skills & roles she could convincingly pull off.

You again ? Trust me, I do my best to avoid your empty & vapid self, but a grotesquely braindead post like the one I responded to demands being called out on its nonsense. But missy gif, don't think for a second I give one solid fuck what you think about anything. I responded so the rest of the boards is aware how full of it you are. But an absurd post from you is about as shocking as you spending another Valentine's Day single. *awaiting next "devastating" gif reply...phhhft, HA!*

Great performance and all, but his presence would feel so jarring and inappropriate at this ceremony, especially his presenting an award to a woman. Ew.

This is exactly what he should have done. If he would have presented, especially with the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements, it would have taken the focus away from the five actresses nominated.

Second, you have to be a total bad-ass to just show up and win award after award last year with Brie Larson staring judgmental daggers through you. To be fair, I feel like the whole Larson/Affleck conundrum last year was third-party fabrication rather than something she caused herself. There was no significant difference in her behavior when she presented the SAG to Washington compared to how she treated Affleck everywhere else, and she even initiated a hug with him when he went on stage at the Oscars. It seemed to me that Larson was put in a tough position where people *wanted* her to say something against Affleck or just generally show distaste towards him (especially considering she's so outspoken against sexual abuse) and created that narrative by projecting their own feelings onto her. So we got all those headlines about how she was ~clearly pissed off having to hand him another award, when in fact she kept to herself the whole season. It's an awkward situation to be in.

That being said it's kind of a shame in a way because I was kind of hoping to see the outspoken Frances McDormand tear him a new asshole on live television.
