The Post primarily appeals to older people so I can see it performing not that well in midnight screenings.

Yeah, it'll do over 20m this weekend which wouldn't be bad, I just thought it might have had a chance at beating Jumanji at #1.

Sucks. In an unrelated note, The Shape of Water was wonderful. Glad it's doing well at the box office; it deserves every penny. If I actually had a chance, I would've definitely rewatched it in theatres.

It should be doing better then it is though. It might barely pass 50m at this rate. Still it is a great film.

So The Greatest Showman continues to impress. Had it gotten better reviews, it would have scored a bp nod.

I am rooting for Hostiles. It's going into 3000 theaters next week apparently (seriously?). Its box office low PTA is gonna be epic.

So are we looking at a 350+ mil finish for Jumanji? Wow!!! Looks like we won't be getting our first $100 mill grosser in January. I guess we gotta wait for February where we should have at least two.

Nah. The film doesn't have great reviews, and westerns these days don't tend to great business. It has nothing to do with the subject matter more then likely I'd say.

Jumanji's box office is beyond expectations because the movie itself is beyond expectations. Everyone thought this would be a stinker, so now word of mouth is good and people buy tickets.
