After a recent re-watch, I'm gonna throw an FYC to Sophia Lillis in It. Far and away the best performance in that movie.

I walked in on my mom watching Marjorie Prime. She's 20 minutes in and saying DID THIS WOMAN WIN ANY AWARDS FOR THIS MOVIE. I guess I'll have to try watching it now.
Anyway, consider this my mother's FYC: Lois Smith for Marjorie Prime.

Consider Sally Hawkins…. but for MAUDIE
Tremendous and as great as the year is for best actress it is a performance that puts everything else into its shadow!

Pretty sure Sally Potter's The Party isn't eligible this year, but Patricia Clarkson hasn't been this wickedly funny since Pieces of April Kristen Scott Thomas, Cherry Jones, Bruno Ganz, and the screenplay weren't bad either.

fyc Lady Macbeth for Florence Pugh, costume design, and adapted screenplay (should be a shoo-in for screenplay in such a weak year...let's make it so)

A Quiet Passion was pretty alright. FYC for costume design and for the love of god Cynthia Nixon

We've gotta get these going, yeah. I suppose we could do the presentation after the Oscars if things are really running late, but that would be disappointing.
On the other hand, it would give me more time to watch some more movies (I'm currently at 22, not a high number), so there is that.

SALMA HAYEK for BEATRIZ AT DINNER
Her best performance by far and one of the very best turns this year.

We all know Phantom Thread will get its love around here. But don't forget Editing please, it pretty masterful throughout but the seasonal fade towards the end puts up with the Dunkirks and the Baby Drivers of the year!
