All I know is that Jim Sterling's review mentioned "crazed delivery men" and that is a concept so ridiculous that I know I've gotta give it a try.
Just as soon as I get a PS4. See ya in a decade, DS.

I’m in the middle (or maybe towards the end?) of Chapter 3, and probably won’t be getting back to it until Friday night at the earliest unfortunately.

Just so y'all fellow Kojima fans know: I won't be able to play the game until Friday. It's killing me, Smalls.

I’m still near the start of Chapter 2, and I haven’t seen Troy. I can’t say I’m having *fun* yet (in fact, it feels relentlessly bleak and tiresome), but there is something oddly compelling about it. I feel like this is a game that’s gonna inspire a bevy of essays.

Chapter 3 is when the gameplay gets much more fun, you start to get a plethora of upgrades, basically one new feature after nearly every delivery that really complicates but completes the gameplay experience. Chapter 2 got tedious, but I'm having a blast with Chapter 3. Plus, I think the frustration pays off and I honestly felt a cathartic sense of accomplishment by finally getting to Port Knot City to complete Chapter 2. Also, Higgs (Troy) finally shows up at the end of Chapter 2 ... so definitely look forward to that, because it's awesome.

I'm struggling with low back pain playing this game. But what a goddamn experience it has been so far. It's definitely not a game for everyone. God bless Kojima

I tried watching some gameplay on youtube and it's definitely not a game that you can derive pleasure from watching. Might be fun to play, but being that I don't/won't have a PS4, this is NOT a fun game to try and watch.
Though, I should really watch someone play The Last of Us. If someone knows a good youtuber with that, lemme know.

I tried watching some gameplay on youtube and it's definitely not a game that you can derive pleasure from watching. Yeah, definitely not. The real pleasure in the gameplay comes from the fact that it's strangely relaxing and therapeutic, an experience that just doesn't translate when watching it.

So far, it honestly hasn’t even been that fun to *play.* It’s oddly arresting as an emotional experience, but if enjoyment is an essential for you, it might not fulfill it. But there’s supposed to be a PC port coming mid-2020, so maybe then you can check it out. That you have to EXPERIENCE, my friend.... BUT! If you did watch a Let’s Play, ChristopherOdd is one of my go-to’s.

I really wish I could mod the game so I could play as Kevin Costner's character in The Postman.

So I finished this tonight, and I gotta say: If you're playing this and getting frustrated, I implore you to please stick it out, because it's totally worth it.
As for my thoughts on the game itself ... well, it ain't perfect. Even as someone who seems to enjoy the gameplay much more than most, even I got frustrated with it, and it does start to grow tiresome -- especially in some of the later chapters when the darker tone of the story has kicked into full gear and you're still getting tasked with routine deliveries. That said, the experience obviously gets smoother as it goes along, and I think it's precisely Kojima's point for the experience to start frustrating but gradually grow easier through the connections that you make with the help and resources provided by other players. It really is a beautiful realization of his story's themes in the form of the gameplay itself, even if you have to pay a bit of a price for it.
And, yeah, there's a lot of redundancy in the dialogue (this can get annoying when so many specific lines get repeated over and over again) and in the narrative itself, and there's times when Kojima's storytelling just feels convoluted for the sake of it. All that said ... the final stretch of game is truly incredible, everything from Chapter 9 onwards is special in its own way ... some really fun boss fights, many revelations and hell of a lot of dramatic and emotional heft. I really found it quite gratifying.

Am I wrong for actually enjoying this game and revisiting it frequently despite it being shat on for being a "walking simulator"? Stoked it's getting a sequel...
