Just finished this gem. It’s very funny and is elevated by Brosnahan and Borstein’s performances, but the supporting cast is delightful as well. I love the 50’s setting and think it’s fun seeing where they take the show. Really can’t wait for season 2 already.

Just finished it. Wonderful. Rachel B should definitely be ending Dreyfuss' streak.

I am disappointed JLD won't be able to have the chance to win 7 times in a row (and I'm sure she would have), but if Brosnahan manages to win, that'd be great. Hopefully Borstein and Lynch get some Emmy love.

Up to halfway into the fifth season. Great stuff. Definitely recommend Maisel, though. Really good comedies are hard to come by, whereas good dramas are everywhere.

Binged the first three episodes. Broshanan is fucking CARRYING this thing in such a mean and elegant way at the same time. I love it so much.

This looks and feels like it came from the same universe as Woody Allen's Radio Days, only it is set in 50s rather than 40s. Rachel Brosnahan is terrific. She conveyed a myriad of emotions and had great chemistry with Alex Borstein who's also pretty great and can be very funny. Rest of the cast was good too. Finished it in a single sitting last night. Looking forward to season 2.

Another really good season. Didn't really like the Paris but things get interesting when one character knows the truth. From there it picks momentum and never stops. A total blast. Rachel Brosnahan killed it again and I'm glad she downed on blinking her eyes. I really like Midge's father this season and grown on Joel too.

Guess I'll be the Debbie downer. I couldn't get through the pilot. It was so over the top and twee and I wasn't feeling it at all.

Watched the first two eps of S1. It's very frothy, swift, and entertaining on the surface.... but there's also a lot of detail and wit and effort going on in the writing and directing and design. The high budget production value doesn't go to waste. There is actual elaborate blocking in most scenes.... camera movement, character action, overlapping dialogue. Like the yoga-exercise scene in ep2 that showcases routine and realization - the very funny choreography conveys the apparent similitude of the women while the dialogue highlights Maisel beginning to question her new life as single.
Rachel Bosnahan is spot on so far - she isn't just "some grey haired ex-con in someone else's shoes eating old peanuts" - she's very pert and homey but also unabashed and intelligent and hilarious, with overt hints at her mischievous side. Themes are also sliding in regarding social, religious, and familial expectation and etiquette, class divide, the burden of having or not having talent....
I actually think the quality of these two eps are so good that they can't possibly be sustained....

Fiiiiinally caught up with this. Surely it's not necessary to add to its heaps of praise, so I'll try to keep it light. This is like some sort of mad cross between Inside Llewyn Davis and Mad Men ... or something ... and I loved it. One of my few flaws is within the very first episode actually, that Midge's first stand-up routine just happens by drunken accident rather than a choice she makes on her own -- she's had much of her own agency since then, but that's one thing that bothered me a lot... I also do feel that there are some plot threads that are just sort of dropped (Susie discovering the record store guys have been selling Midge's recording ... what the hell happened with that?? I was fully expecting some sort of reveal at the end of the season that Susie had been profiting off the sales without telling Midge about it or something, but nope, doesn't get acknowledged again... wtf) or neglected (I mean...her children??? and the B. Altman job just kinda disappears, etc.), it's an ambitious show that maybe doesn't always do the best job of managing all of its moving parts (perhaps could use some more writers??). But in general I found this immensely absorbing and enjoyable: the cast is immaculate across the board, Brosnahan giving the comedic performance of a lifetime one episode after the next, Borstein, Shalhoub, and Hinkle are all sensational, even a lot of the more minor supporting characters are hilarious (Shirley, Astrid, Jackie ... and of course legend Lenny Bruce). Incredible ensemble, beautiful production, and really funny and sharp writing. They sure left a lot open at the end of season two so I can't wait to get more...

Anyone watch season 3 yet? Only just watched the premiere ... thought it was quite good but a bit overwritten in certain scenes, as can happen from time to time with this show. But lots of great scenes, even more performance-heavy than normal for a single episode of the show but I loved that, and visually it's better than ever. Many great developments, too, and I'm excited to binge the rest of it.
