Rumors have it that Pete Docter was being eyed as his eventual successor. This gets any more heated, I think it would be in everyone’s best interest that they make that happen.

Yeah the Hollywood reporter came out with an article earlier, and it was a bit "nasty" with all the details. Docter would be a good replacement, I just hope he doesn't have any scandals of his own.

How convenient... a story like this breaks out for Disney prior to Coco's release.
Either way the allegations could affect Disney Pixar a bit for their animation divisions. Even Lasseter has already took a leave of absence.

Even Lasseter has already took a leave of absence. Pixar already has a strong division, that it's unlikely it'll have much of an affect. WDAS seems a bit more complicated though, considering Lasseter has been credited with reshaping it though.

At least with Pixar, we know it's most certain. WDAS could still be fine too as long as it remains in the right direction and vision.

WDAS just needs a good replacement "creator", preferably one who is scandal-ridden. Most of their upcoming animated features already promising enough. I think they'll back just fine really.

At the end of this year, Lasseter is officially stepping down from his position.Following his departure, Jennifer Lee will be in charge of overseeing Disney Animation, while Pete Docter will oversee Pixar. I think this is the best thing they could possibly do. I hope their positions don’t mean they won’t be able to step in the director’s chair again, but they’re both great storytellers, so I trust their leadership.

Shame he's being railroaded.

Thoughts on this? I think the statement from Time's Up is... vindictive, to say the least. From what I've heard about Lasseter, his faults were simply that he was kinda creepy and hugged women too much. Which is a problem, but not a big one.

I want things to work out for the guy, because it’d be a shame to lose his talent. But I’m incredibly conflicted, because I wonder how much that’s boiling down to my personal bias. What he did may not be “extreme” so to say, but tough. Abusing his power is still abusing his power, and that doesn’t lessen the fact that he was making people feel uncomfortable. So for that, it’s for the best that he’s out. He can earn forgiveness and a second chance, but talent doesn’t excuse his bad habits.

He's got a new job, nothing anyone can do about it. The shit against him was overblown, but regardless, he showed genuine remorse and is a one-of-a-kind talent, so I'm VERY happy he's got a new job and wish him all the best.

I meant out of Pixar and Disney. I’m all for giving the man a second chance and a shot at redemption, and yes, at least he seems genuinely sorry for what went down, but it needs consequences, otherwise he won’t learn or grow. Again, his offenses may not have been extreme, but he still abused his power.

He hugged people in a creepy way, and near as I can see nobody told him not to. Maybe he's just, y'know, socially tone deaf.
