When Americans say 'I could care less' instead of 'I could not care less'. It makes it sound like there is a level of caring below what you are feeling right now which defeats the whole purpose of the saying. I think there’s more to it. Sure, there’s the implication that you could care more if you wanted to. But what I get out of it is, “Does it really matter?” With “Couldn’t”, you at least have a definitive “no” response. “Could” rings to me like the response saying “Maybe, but who really cares?” Apathy beyond apathy or rejection. I can understand your line of thinking but it still annoys the shit out of me

Oh honey, I really hate it when people use the words, 'Nicole Kidman'... for some reason it sends me into a rage. I think it has to do with overrated phoniness. I once called another girl in acting class that and she immediately burst into tears. Later, I was overcome with remorse and told her she was more like Cate Blanchett and she instantly brightened up... but I don't think she's ever forgiven me. I still feel terrible about it.

It’s also been my personal experience that anyone who uses “Social Justice Warrior” or “SJW” with any semblance of sincerity is an easy indication that that person is a horrible human being not worth the time to chew them out. I wouldn't put it that bluntly, but yeah, seeing "SJW" used unironically tends to just make me tune out and move on without giving a second thought to whatever point is being made. Same with "feminazi".

I still maintain 'I could care less' is a stupid phrase They actually don't, it's a myth regarding the Coriolis force, but it's a strangely fun myth. That's just what the governments are telling yewwww to keep you from revolutionizing!

Why? Surely there are instances when the term is appropriate... or at least makes sense. Calling people that use it "horrible" is pretty extreme, unless you're being hyperbolic of course. To me, this is on the same level as a conservative claiming anyone that tosses around the words "racist" or "sexist" too liberally are bad people. And honestly, I can see their point a bit more. Being labeled as a bigot can ruin someone's career... nobody's fired over being called a SJW. I'm not trying to be hostile at all btw.

I’m sure there are those who use it with respectable intentions, or at the very least aren’t trying to be inflammatory when using it. Unfortunately, hearing it over the years with sincerity and mockery, and growing up in a not so progressively minded Christian environment as a kid, my initial reaction to it is like poison.

proper grammar honestly has gotten pretty annoying, and periods in oneliners/threads is like such a huge thing that irritates me for no reason
none of the phrases mentioned itt or that i can think of really bother me. there's like dumb shit people say about film often but that's not common nor a phrase.

I kinda hate those PC terms that seem to have been created just to put easy labels on things that are absolutely beyond easy labeling. Stuff like 'toxic masculinity', '*whatever* (white, male, etc.) privilege' and all that. Seems to me like the overuse of such phrases just oversimplifies the issues.

Everything has to have a name now, because everything has to be a thing that needs categorisation. I for the most part consciously try not to actually verbalise a lot of this terms.

My boss uses the word "utilize" when she could just utilize the word "use" and nothing has ever been more annoying to me.

I don't know why but it never sounds right to me when someone says "reverse racism" or "reverse sexism."

"My truth" - There's THE truth asshat. "I will never watch that movie again!" - Right, you didn't like it, I get it - who says ANY movie has to be "watched again" much less what YOU would watch? "Do you really want to die on that hill?" - Extremely stupid phrase - no I want to live on it, and I want you to admit you're wrong so we can go to that nicer hill over there and have some ice cream. "Karen" - remember the time pacinoyes said this was a (somewhat) prejudicial/racist term and this board gave him a collective side-eye? - yeah, well it still is. ............I've used it - I get the joke, it's not the end of the world but for me I try not to use it like........ever again and I'd die on that hill. On MAR anyway "By miles" - As in "who should win Best Actor - "Oh, Anthony Hopkins "by miles".....look I know it's a message board and you think you have a 15 letter limit but tell me why it's Hopkins by miles, ok - humor me.

“How’s it going?” “Oh, it’s going.”
This answer is the most irritating other than people driving without lights when it’s dark/precipitating. Most of the time I follow up with “But how?” And usually people get flustered.
