Ok, obviously every year you have younger artists that will fight for the most acclaimed stuff and this year is no different - Protomartyr, St. Vincent (she's 35 maybe cutting it close), Kendrick, etc.
But it's just an interesting year just in terms of how many old-head great or at least important work has been released or re-released this year and I'm leaving off stuff that I don't really listen to but that has gotten raves (especially Robert Plant or the maybe the new U2) and feel free to add to it this is just off the top of my head - some of the reissue stuff is flat out historic I'd say actually.
Radiohead - OK Computer (OKNOTOK 1997-2017) David Bowie - Cracked Actor 74 The Replacements - For Sale........Live at Maxwell's Husker Du - Savage Young Du The Smiths - The Queen Is Dead (Deluxe Edition) A ton of hip hop reissues this year Duo UGK, Slick Rick, Main Source - There has never been such a deep well of reissues prior to this year I think, the Get On Down label
Randy Newman - Dark Matter
Badalamenti - A bunch of stuff, new Twin Peaks Etc. The National - Sleep Well Beast (I like it better than their previous two anyway) Jay Z - 4:44 Afghan Whigs - In Spades Peter Perrett - How The West Was Won LCD Soundsytem - American Dream
